PSW300, damaged, rattles, should I buy?

Hi,
I have a chance to buy a psw300. The outside has some peeling, and the system rattles during use, less rattle lower volume, more rattle higher volume. I was wondering what the forum thinks of buying the sub and repairing it myself. Think it would cost as much as a new model, to repair, especially if its the amp section?
What would the speaker run, about? If I ordered it from Polk?
Okay all opinions welcome.
I'm going to have to pay around $60.00 USD for the unit and shipping.
