For music, I find even the PC+ is too much sub for the room.
I have to turn it way down. Understand I love bass, but not to the point where it veils all other frequencies.
In my 2 channel music room, I use a
16-46 PCi and I have it set between 11 and 1 o'clock, depending on the music.
The taller, 16-46 subs, have much less punch and seem to blend better with my SDA's to sound very harmonious.
It isn't obvious to the ear, that a sub is being used.
If I was doing everything in one room, and was working with a 50/50 music/theater ratio, and had to choose 1 sub, it would be the 20-39 PC+ ,
and I would just turn it down some when listening to music.

Speaker envy? I'm startin to get wood!!!

I would recommend the PC Ultra in a heartbeat, our HT room is 28'x15'x8' with a big opening into another large area...

The Ultra has NO problems filling all that space, and has never broken a sweat...tough choices...which ever SVS you end up with,I don't think that you will be sorry...

I have decided to go with the PC-ultra...

Beardog. I think you will be happy with that choice.

I have a PB1+ box sub. It is very similar to the PC 20 - 39+. Same amp and driver just box vs. cylinder. My room is large like yours 22 X 19 or so with 10 ft. ceilings and opening to other living quarters. I normally watch movies at a "reference" level of -15, which is the calibrated 15 db off of true reference of 0 db. Ridiculously loud let me tell you during dynamic peaks. You can hear the bass outside of my house in the street almost during the Darla tap scene in Finding Nemo.

Be prepared to superglue all of those bottles down because the PC-ultra will take it a little further. ... although it might be fun to watch them all get knocked down the first time:D

Are you saying the PC-plus may be overkill..?!

    I was thinking about that...

all thoughs Tequila bottles I brought back from Mexico,
and those bottles of scotch took years to collect..

maybe velcro on the bottoms of the bottles, and strapped to the walls will help..:D

Whatever you do, make sure they are still removeable for consumption! I have a regular after movie chore of moving things back to where they were prior to the experience.

Looks like Ron said you would be happy with either the PC-ultra or the 20 - 39 PC+. Its really a matter of room size and how loud you like it. I don't get the 115 - 120 db bass peaks like some people here on the forum, but I can't imagine watching a movie with peaks at that level.

With the size of my room, if my memory serves me correctly, I can obtain 110 - 112 db peaks. Not quite pants waffling like they call it but pretty impressive. I really feel destruction of the house / decorations at anything higher. I don't even have my PB1+ at the halfway mark. It is set at 11:00 o'clock on the gain.

Have you calibrated your system with a decibel meter and one of the calibration DVDs to see what level you normally listen to movies? That would be a starting point.

You might be able to save a few hundred with the 20 - 39 PC+ and be pretty happy with it. If you're a serious basshead go with the PC ultra.

    pjdami ,

I have never used a meter yet...
I will when I get the sub though...

I thought about the PB12 ISD/2 and the PC+, but that ultra sub is so damn impressive...
I realize I won`t even see the driver , but....

    SQ is the ultimate goal...

I am also considering dual 20-39 PC+`s, but I think it would be easier to just dial in one unit....

    Vr3MxStyler2k3 ,

    It`s funny you mention that...
That is my wifes biggest complaint..!!
once I get the room set up the way I want it I will work on wire management

I ordered the sub then put the brakes on it until I can make my
    mind up...
I know I will be happy with any of the the ones I`m looking into
but I keep vasilating between box and cylinder because of placement issues.

So far, Ron has been very understanding.
    and very helpful...
