I am currently running my RT20P speakers with a Denon AVR 881. I am contemplating replacing the RT20p with LSi15 or LSi25 AND replacing my receiver also. I am not currently running surround sound BUT will need optical inputs & outputs on the new receiver, the reason for going with an Audio/Video receiver. I am looking at a Denon AVR 1905. My question is will that receiver be enough (power & quality) to drive the LSi series speakers. If not, can anyone please recommend an amp/reciever under $1000 to drive these speakers. I know HK amps are high current but I have not had luck in the past with HK equipment. Also, with the LSi sereis being 4 ohm will driving a second pair (outdoor Atrium 45) harm the amp?

On another note, if I decide to put my RT20p up for sale, what would be a fair asking price?

The Denon 1905 will not do the LSi15's or 25's justice.

If you are just wanting a two channel setup, then get a used preamp and amp or an integrated amp. This shoud put you below $1000 without much trouble.

Take a look at some used Rotel, Parasound, NAD, B&K, or similar. www.audiogon.com has quite a few used items at good prices.

If you think you will want surround later, then a receiver with preamp outputs, like the Denon 1905, will be an okay choice. You could use it as a preamp and buy a separate two-channel amp for the front LSi's.

Unfortunately, the RT20p's don't bring much. $200-$300 might be about average for them. There have been several on ebay over the last six months and they don't seem to sell very well.
