Center Channel Hum: CS400i

Has anyone encountered problems with a center channel hum or have any ideas why this may be occurring? And if so, how I can stop it.
I've double checked the connections and the wires... no strays, but still get the hum, even when there are no other components hooked up and just turning on from stand by.
In case this may help, this is what I have for components:
Receiver: Harman Kardon (HK) AVR 8000
CD: HK FL8380
DVD: Toshiba SD5700 (on order)
VCR: Toshiba ?
TV: Toshiba CN32H95
Front Speakers: RT2000i
Center Channel Speaker: CS400i
Surround Speakers: f/x500i
Subwoofer: PSW450
Speaker Wire: Monster Cable XP (14 gauge)

could possibly be a ground loop from your cable tv hookup....

Try switching out the speaker... or move it around.
But you've probably tried those things...
Good luck on that.
I'm curious about your reciver:
1) What did you have before?
2)Why did you go with the HK 8000?
3) How do you feel about the acquisition?
I've had a good experience with the brand... and I was wondering for future upgrades...
Thanks! -
When I hooked up a system for my parents it got a hum/static from the cable ground. It was through all channels though. Is your speaker cable sheilded? Cheak the center's cable to see if it runs along any power cords or cable lines etc..Chris

I had a ground loop hum in all of my front stage speakers. Using a "cheater plug" adapter to convert the 3 prong plug of my power amp to two prongs solved the problem.Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country!

I have a CS1000p
The problem I'm having with it is that the subs play a couple of muffled radio stations, and it drives me nuts. I've tried everything; Polk seemed to think it was a receiver problem so I even went as far as to buy a new receiver and its still there. I'm starting to get a little miffed; I was kind of hoping not to have spent all that money only to not use it. I'm actually starting to thing of other brands and get rid of this thing. -
After further checking, the hum/static is in all of the front channels. Unknown regarding the surrounds as they are not wired yet... need to get dry wall anchors first, but that's another story.
Sounds like it may be a ground loop problem though, I'll experiment with the cable setup tonight to see if that solves the problem.
Thanks for the suggestions.
