The Pioneer Elite series is the only one I would even consider, but I'm just not a Pioneer fan. That's a nice AVR with good reviews.

A killer deal is a killer deal, who gives a crap what we think.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

"A killer deal is a killer deal, who gives a crap what we think." I hear ya there! But nontheless, I wanna know if there is something blatently obvious that I'm completely missing. It's just a last minute, buyers remorse prevention act that I'm invoking!
And by the way, I appreciate what you guys think. After all, it was the fine folks on the forum who displayed enough info for me to soak up and get an A/V job.

If that's the case then you owe us a % of your future sales. JK.

I personally think the Pioneer Elite receivers are great. If Denon isn't in your cards or you really like the way Denon sound, then the Pioneer Elite receivers are going to be a great choice. I feel the Pioneer Elite receivers are slighty better sounding. It's very close and almost exactly the same. You would have to hear them side byside on the same speakers.

I'd say go for it .

Make sure you give it lots of breathing room, Pioneer receivers tend to run pretty warm.

Just remember, Elite's are only covered under warranty if you buy at an authorized dealer, so be careful. Ebay has them cheap, but no warranty.;)

Yes, it will be through an authorized dealer..through Tweeter accomodation actually. Which means I'll get a good price, with warranty..but I'll have to wait 4 to 6 weeks to get it. Small price to pay to get this deal. I simply cannot wait. It will be a big improvement over my Onkyo tx-sr501 without a doubt. I wanted the 56TXI but couldn't swing the extra cash. It's not a huge improvement over the 54 but it has a couple things. Mainly the IEEE connection and the removable power cord..that's what bugs me the most but, oh well. It will still be nice.
