Hey there, Well Tax Time is here again and its time to upgrade my speakers. My Current Setup Consists of:

Cerwin Vega Center
Sony Floor Standing Fronts
KLH Surround Backs
Polk FXi3 Surrounds
Sony 8" Sub Woffer

Now Considering I am a man of very little means, I have to Spread the Doe a little thin, but I want to make a substantial upgrade to my system.

I have a couple different options in mind and I wanted to get peoples opinions on what they would do.

Option 1) Replace Center Channel with CSi5 and the crappy KLHs with another Set of FXi3s

Option 2) Replace Sony Fronts with a Pair of RTi10s

Option 3) Replace Sony Sub with and HSU VTF MK2 Sub

What Do you guys think.....Let Me know....Thanks

I say replace the mains. If you are worried about timbre matching the fronts ditch the center and use phantom mode.

Have you thought about getting bookshelf speakers, such as the RTi6's, instead of the RTi10's? Bookshelves are more economical with most of the benefits of floorstanders, especially when you have a subwoofer in the mix. With this route, you could get the RTi6's can the CSi5 at the same time to better your front stage. Then if you decide you want better fronts next year, you could move the RTi6's to the back and get RTi10's or RTi8's for the front. If you are happy with the 6's as fronts, then you could get a better sub and possibly more surrounds next.

Just my thoughts. Hope they have helped.

BTW, what receiver/pre&amp are you pushing all of your speakers with?

I am using a Denon 3805 to push all the speakers........in the room I am currently in it is more then enough to handle the sound I need. When I upgrade the room I will probably get some amps to juice things up a bit.

Fantastic idea IMO. I remember someone saying how surprised they were at the big sound that came out of the RTi6's. I think this might be it:

From the Texas Polk Gathering II (in the system showcase):

"RTi6, everyone seemed very impressed with Polks latest shelf speaker. Much improved over the prior series, in both performance AND finish."
    Audio: Polk S15 * Polk S35 * Polk S10 * SVS SB-1000 Pro
    HT: Samsung QN90B * Marantz NR1510 * Panasonic DMP-BDT220 * Roku Ultra LT * APC H10

Yep. Change out the front soundstage, then sub, then rears.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

I'm also in agreement with PM, Okie and Peersool....get the RTi6(Speaker Stands) and the CSi5 at the same time. The difference in your soundstage, and overall experience at that time will be significant compared to your current setup. I think it would be the best bang for your buck.

You already have your sites set on an HSU, so eventually your subwoofer needs will be met....baby steps man, no need to hurry.

    Good luck.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
