Newbie here,
I have a STRDE945 Sony and I found a Denon AVR-3802 on E-Bay that won't power up(needs fixed). Im out of $ from getting the R50's and the bid right now is for $30.00 Is this a good deal after I get it fixed or should I just back off. Also in the Denon line I see that some recievers have an AVR-4digit# and some have an AVR-3digit# is this a different grade? And if so which grade is the best?

Depending on whats wrong with the 3802 , if you get it cheap enough, it' a good score.

The DRA series are stereo receivers. AVR series all should be 4 digit numbers. I don't recall a 3 digit avr. they could be off lines for other chain type stores. Usually you wil find missing preouts or features when comparing to the avr 4 digit models. Stick with the 4 digit models and you can't go wrong.

Example of the avr 3802 past and present.

    Avr3300 ,avr3801, avr3802 , avr3803 and the newest one is the avr3805. This goes back 5 years.
