F/X 500 - Muffled. HELP!!!!

I have a set of F/X 500 surround speakers that are about 4 years old. I noticed recently that the right speaker did not have the same fidelity that the left one had, and upon closer inspection realized that it's tweeter was barely putting out and the woofer seemed weak as well (Compared to the left).
Also..... about two years ago one of the surrounds fell off the wall and was repaired by Circuit City. I unfortunately do not remember which one it was though. I didn't use them much soon after getting it fixed until recently, and then discovered this problem.
I checked the connections inside to the binding posts and board but everything seemed to look OK.
I reversed the surround cables to the opposite speakers with the same result, so it isn't cabling or the receiver.
Any suggestions? Do you think CC screwed one of them up?

My guess would be crossover issues if wiring is intact. You could easily swap out tweeters to see if it is a driver. If not a faulty driver, then the crossover needs replaced. I haven't been into the FX500s to see how cramped it is, but I would assume you could do this yourself with minimal trouble.

the spade plugs on to the tweeter are diff sizes for -ve and +ve so unlikiely to be a simple **** up on the wiring, I am uncertain of the mid range but put a d size battery on the cable and see if the driver pushes outward when -ve and +ve touching battery, if it does then the mids are wired up right as well.
An easy way to check a driver is to just pull it out and hold the cable on the terminals and see how it sounds by itself..... -
Thank you guys for all the suggestions. I am going to try them today and see if I can pinpoint the problem. I would hate to have to pack them up and mail them to Polk for warranty repair.... besides.... I can't find the original receipt anyway.
