i recently bought a pair of rt35i's as of now i dont have a 7.1 receiver so i was going to place them on top of my rt1000i's (they are both the same width that will make the mains 58" high) What is the best way to wire them? My yamaha has A and B but i think if you use both then you lose the surrounds? should i just connect them to the rt1000i? Or straight to the receiver? or i can mount them on the wall behind and above the rt1000i"s(see pic in showcase). Any input would help. Thanks
System:
Toshiba 51h83 HDTV
Yamaha HTR-5660
Carver AV-405
Pioneer DV-578A-S
Comcast HD cable
RT1000i's
RT35i's
CS400i
F/X300i's
SVS PCi 20-39

If your amp will handle a 4 Ohm load, I'd stack the smaller speaks upside down on top of the others and wire them in parrallel (red-red, black-black) If it won't handle 4 Ohms, wire is series (amp-black post, red post- black post speaker 2, red post sepaker 2- amp)

I wouldn't put both sets of speakers up front...

You could potentially wire things so that the 1000s are doing the lows and the 35s are doing the mids and highs, but I don't see that you'll gain any benefit...

As for putting them on top, 58" is most likely going to put the tweeter well above your head, not the best place, as you want it at ear level...

You have alot of options, but since your receiver doesn't have the presence channels that a 9.1 setup has, I'd just leave things they way they are until you go 7.1...

Ultimately though, try different options and do whatever sounds best to you..

if i turn them upside down the tweeters are about 4 inches apart
my receiver has an impeadence switch so i think it will handle 4 ohms

    Dum Dum Dum

Put towls (like folded 2 or 3 times under the back portion of the top speaker (upside down) -

This will angle the top speaker down.

Make sure you put rubber bands under the speaker to or it WILL dive off...

Buy a seperate amp, call it a holiday.

I had 3 amps on my mainstage at one time...

Ive done the same thing with RT55i's and my 2000i's... its sounds great. BTW...With Yamaha..you dont lose the surrounds when you run a/b... you get it all!
    I run 2 sets of fronts...both towers...2000i's with 800i's:

I ended up wiring the 35's into b and the 1000's into a and the yamaha has a setting for b speakers to be zone 2 or main when set on main i dont lose any surrounds and it sounds good.

i dont know which yamaha you have, but my Yamaha HTR-5740 plays 2 sets of 8 ohm fine. I listen to music 90% of the time. I am running a center and a set of yamaha speakers(A's) up front with SDA-CRS(B's) in back. It really fills the room up nicely.

Yep, my Yamaha HTR-5450 does A+B+surrounds all at the same time. 7.1 channel stereo out of a 5.1 channel reciever. ;)
