Looks like a SVS brand sub woofer. They are made like that.

SVS and HSU make some killer models, and they are very big in the DIY arena.....
Big plus is the HUGE amount of airspace the driver can work with......
Cheers,

The SVS sounds even cooler than it looks. I have the 20-39PC and it produces exceptionally clean bass, not boomy at all. Great bang for the buck -- for $750 you get response down to 20 Mhz.
Main problem is if you have a cat. I've seen this sub described as "the golden scratching post from God."Main HT (family room): Polk Monitor 7 (1987-original owner) (L/R) / CSi40 (C) / RTi38 (SL/SR) / SVS 20-39PC (sub), Outlaw 975 pre/pro / Outlaw 7075 amp, Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray, LG 42LM5800 teevee

I have a forum protocol question here. Which of the following is the appropriate action for someone in my situation?
1) 'fess up to a buffoonish mistake, perhaps with some lame excuse like "obviously I spend too much time around computers -- REALLY REALLY OLD computers."
2) try to distract attention with a witty albeit nonsensical reply like "Maybe this explains why my dog keeps trying to hump the sub."
or
3) go back and edit my post to correct "Mhz" to "Hz" and then come back here and say, "Aaron, what the HELL are you talking about?"Main HT (family room): Polk Monitor 7 (1987-original owner) (L/R) / CSi40 (C) / RTi38 (SL/SR) / SVS 20-39PC (sub), Outlaw 975 pre/pro / Outlaw 7075 amp, Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray, LG 42LM5800 teevee

I like this one better:
4) The "M" in MHz stands for "Micro-Mega" (one millionth of a megahertz), which would equal Hz.
I replaced my Polk PSW650 sub with a SVS CS Ultra last month. It is a much better match for my SDA 1C's. It is not the least bit boomy and performs well with both music and movies.Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country! -
You did a fine job of handling that one, Mike. I applaud you.

After the last fiasco I hesitate to jump back in on this thread, but here goes anyway.
Looks like I'm about to get "obsoleted." At http://www.svsubwoofers.com/svspci.htm it is announced that a new "PCi" (as in "improved") series is about to debut. The model I bought a few months ago has a 190w amp and I paid $655 for b-stock (and boy was I proud of myself); the new 20-39PCi will be 320w and go for $649 new. ahhh well, mine isn't going to sound any worse because of it ...
ok, my last post on the polk forums about some other company's subs.Main HT (family room): Polk Monitor 7 (1987-original owner) (L/R) / CSi40 (C) / RTi38 (SL/SR) / SVS 20-39PC (sub), Outlaw 975 pre/pro / Outlaw 7075 amp, Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray, LG 42LM5800 teevee

Mike,
Don't worry, I have an SVS 16-46 I bought in Dec and I pre ordered the new improved driver for my sub - this is the same driver that's being installed on the new PCi line of subs that replace the PC line. The cost is $79 for the new driver if I return the old driver to SVS, otherwise, its $129. I don't have any specs on this new driver, but it does improve headroom (more dB) and low end response - for $79, I think it's a great bargain because the improvment will be apprciable. I too have the 650 sub, it's not a bad sub, it just doesn't reach the low end and i no longer really need it because the SVS is more than enough in my HT room (12x19x8) -
thanks for the info. Did you give any thought to swapping out the amp too?
(should resist upgrade impulse here ... remind myself i'm very happy with how it sounds and it's already putting cracks in the walls ... should buy polk rears and centers first ... uh-huh uh-huh)Main HT (family room): Polk Monitor 7 (1987-original owner) (L/R) / CSi40 (C) / RTi38 (SL/SR) / SVS 20-39PC (sub), Outlaw 975 pre/pro / Outlaw 7075 amp, Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray, LG 42LM5800 teevee

fyi, SVS got back to me and said an amp swap is not possible due to size differences.Main HT (family room): Polk Monitor 7 (1987-original owner) (L/R) / CSi40 (C) / RTi38 (SL/SR) / SVS 20-39PC (sub), Outlaw 975 pre/pro / Outlaw 7075 amp, Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray, LG 42LM5800 teevee
