Nothing like that little 'gun' that shoots RF or Infra-red at your preamp, eh? That motor, with all the windings, probably a real good antenna for rf/emi, and RIGHT on your front end to.

I'm an orb, a sphere of audio goodness.

And folks call me a purist....LOL
    Political Correctness'.........defined

"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a t-u-r-d by the clean end."

My old pioneer ht reciever never made any kind of noise and it was servo driven pot........enlighten me.

I did not hear any kind of any noise out of marks anthem when I used the mo at the gathereing either.

This comes from a purist point of view. If you have active electronics around the signal you can get noise. Not necessarily noise from using it but overall dynamic noise. For example, in an infrared receiver you have a clock and a small processor. This little "computer system" runs continuously. It has oportunity to couple onto the volume potentiometers via the little wire antennas going to the coil in the motor right next to your pot. (Not the kind these guys are smoking.) If this noise is getting in the way of the sound you will never know until you remove it. Some of us prefer to "know" by insuring it cannot cause problems by not having it there. Make sense?
