Last week i bought onkyo 787 open box for my bedroom. Out of curiosity i switched onkyo 787 with my denon 3801 in my home theater setup. I feel like onkyo is better than denon in both stereo and DD/DTS.

I bought denon thorugh internet, which means through un-authorised dealer, will it make difference. My setup is in my signature.

any one has felt the same.

If you are asking "does the product bought from the non-authorized dealer differ from an authorized dealer?" no, do you get the warranty no
    Dodd - Battery Preamp
Monarchy Audio SE100 Delux - mono power amps
    Sony DVP-NS999ES - SACD player
    ADS 1230 - Polk SDA 2B
DIY Stereo Subwoofer towers w/(4) 12 drivers each
    Crown K1 - Subwoofer amp
    Outlaw ICBM - crossover
    Beringher BFD - sub eq

Where is the remote? Where is the $%#$% remote!

That's interesting. I would think of them as being more-or-less on the same level, performance-wise. What seems better about the Onkyo, specifically?

Denon wont give drive my PSW650 like onkyo.
When i drive my f/x500i with Denon it hardly sounds but now iam getting 360 deg. sound field

In onkyo the stereo has better bass from polk monitor.

DTS seems to be better in onkyo, the voice is much clearer than denon

    I got the warranty.
My friend said that we will get first quality product from authorised dealers and from unauthorised dealers it will be mostly (B) product, is it true or false
    I bought it from reliableaudiovideo.com

I don't know if there's any truth to that. I find it hard to believe that there would be that many "B" quality products to distribute. Denon may correctly say that there's no GAURANTEE that you're getting first quality products, if you don't purchase from an authorized dealer. I'd be willing to bet that your 3801 is just like mine, which I bought for $999 from an authorized, local dealer.

are closeouts, returns or factory reconditioned stuff. That doesn't mean that they are defective.....

What do you mean that Denon won't drive your sub like the Onk??? It's not an amplified signal. The Denon could have been defective or something because it shouldn't have been a night/day difference....

The Bass sound that iam getting from polk PSW650 when connected to Onkyo is clearer than Denon and it seems to create very low frequency.
( i connected my PSW to the sub woofer preout and also to the left and right preouts.)

i bet the thx cert is good for something when it comes to pre amps you actuley get something besides a jacked up price. and the olny reason they tell you about non authrised dealers is beacues some times they are selling cheap copys this is so they can keep their price up too like if a store that was authrised to sell polk discounted them they would not be selling them for that long.

My 3801 has no prob driving either the Velodyne ULD-18 or the P.E. DIY subs. I only switched from the pre-out to the front L & R because of double filtering.
It had no problem driving my M12s with out the Adcoms hooked up either. You might want to ge it checked out.

I have an onkyo 797. Personally I feel that onkyo is better because you can get an authorized dealer to give you a deal on it. I payed $25 above cost for mine while a comparable Dennon would have been WAY more.

I have installed both Denon and Onkyo(Interga),Denon makes a completely better product.Sound quality of the amps are warmer, can mate with more speaker lines, has better setup menu.Integra receiver's have a hissy sound, don't mate with hardly any speaker lines well.I have heard Onkyo(integra)with Martin Logan,B&W,RBH,Dynaudio, and Polk.It sounds like hell with all of the lines>I tested the whole line from the DTr5.2 to the DTR9.1, built quality is ok but the sound quality is just piss poor.

wow! I wouldn't say that myself, but heh, that's opinion. I've heard Denon **01 lines in pretty much most of the models. I've also heard Onkyo's current line in the 494-787 incantations. I have to say that Onkyo makes a 'smarter' product. Menus, front panels, displays, remotes, back panel setup, all are better on the Onkyos. Denon 'does' have a bit of an edge in the power department though. In comparitive models, I've found the Denon's always have a little more power in reserve, leading to 'punchier' sound with a little more brightness, and more responsive bass. But it's not that much of a difference, and all the pluses Onkyo had over Denon made me choose them THIS time.
