    What did I get?

    Money.
Some hardcore oven mitts for my cast iron cookware!
Some bogus gifts from my relatives like dress socks.
Some khakis and a couple of shirts from my sister.
    A new fleece jacket.

    What did I give?
I got a Palm PDA for my wife

I got cast iron grills for my mom. She likes snowmen too so I got her a couple snow man trinket things. It's like a holiday tradition for her.

My dad, I got a book from Ann Couter (sp?)

For my brother, I got an automatic G3A3 Airsoft gun

For my sister, I got a "S'mores Maker" kit

For my father in law, we got him a cheapy RC plane

My mother in law, we got a new shower curtain set to match her newly refinished bathroom and some miniatures that she collects

Other mother in law and brothers in law got gift certificates to Barnes and Noble

Sister in law got a gift certificate

My extended family on my wife's side got a slew of movie passes.

I think I spent a total of about 600-650 on Christmas this year. Pretty good.

    What did I get myself?

Since money is tight, I got me a used Kenwood KDC-CX87 CD Changer to replaced my broken CD changer in my truck.

My parents got me a washer and dryer (actually received at Thanksgiving). No more trips to the laundromat!

I got them some component videos cables and a Directv HD receiver.

I got me a plate amp for my SVS. and I think the Rotel preamp and Adcom GFA2 were close enough to count for Christmas too. :)

Oh yeah, my parents also gave me a bunch of their old records they had boxed up. Probably not too much I'd listen to, but it's fun to have and there might be a sleeper in there somewhere.

I got a 12'x16' barn style, vinyl clad, shed. I've spent the last 5 days (freezing my **** off outside) finishing the interior, turning it into my workshop.

So far it's got R13 in the walls, CAT5E & RG6 back to the house, 60 amps of juice, a loft, room for my motorcycle, table saw, workbench and other assorted DIY tools. I am pumped!

It's a race to see if I can get the workshop finished before my 8.5 months pregnant wife goes into labor with our second kid... Life is pretty exciting!

    Happy Holidays, everyone.

Not a bad Christmas this year. Let's see: I got a Sound Blaster Live card for the new comp, Half Life 2, Call of the Duty and the United Offensive Expansion pack, an optical mouse, some gift cards, gloves for work, and Spiderman boxers(boy, are they comfortable). I guess the computer was an early Christmas present, from myself, plus the new 36 in TV, which should arrive sometime this week. Santa was good to me.

For the wife, I got a digital camera, and The Sims 2. I got her parents a printer, copier, scanner combo, the younger sister in law got Final Fantasy X2 for PS2, and the other sis-in-law got some Eternity by CK. I sent my parents cards, with pics of our 2nd child, who is now almost 2 months old.

A funny thing happened. My younger sister in law got The Sims 2 from her mom, and when she went to install it, a window came up saying that she didn't have a DirectX 9.0 graphics accerlerator, so now, her mom has to go out and shell out $100 just so she can play the game. Sorry, I just find that humerous. So, today, I have to go out with the mom in law and help her pick out a graphics card. I think I'll recommend the Radeon 9200. Nice card, I think, and simple. It should do her well.

UPDATE: I got some other stuff including some clothing but I also got some cool gifts. One of which I meant to bring with me to work but forgot it. I wanted to play with it.

Anyway, I got a Nomex oven mitt which is cool 'cause now I can pick up my cast iron pans after they have been in the oven or under the broiler for a while. I also got a set of gloves for teh fireplace and a fireplace screen. Now I can burn REAL wood instead of just those cheesy sawdust/parrafin logs that come in boxes. I also got cash. Best gift so far though was a Cold Heat soldering iron! I was looking at them for a while and wanted to try one out but couldn't get ones because there were other things more important to pay for. But I got one as a gift and that's cool 'cause now I can screw around with it! WHEEEEEE!

I got myself new seating for the theater, two of these. Much, much more comfortable then the old couch and theater seats.
    futon.jpg

I bought my wife a nice karaoke machine that records so she can sing her heart out. My daughter got too much to even list.

As for a list of what I got...

$40 gift card to the Tinder Box (Cigar Shop)
    $100 Costo Gift Card
    Movies, lots of movies
    The two futons
    Amy Grant CD
15k from the inlaws (did I say I love my inlaws)
    Beer
    A Digital Camera

WhyTF did your inlaws give you 15k?
The good news is another 10k is coming early next year :) (did I say I love my inlaws?)

The reason is this. My wife has two brothers, the younger brother and his wife had to do artificial insemination for their first kid (he's now 2), now they want to do it again and try for another. Problem is they cannot afford it as it costs about 25k. So, my wife's parents are funding this next one for them. Because they are fair, the other two families get the same amount. They just need to break it up over several months. They just sold their house and made some 300k on it so that is where the cash is coming from.
More importantly, does your wife have any single sisters?
    Sorry bobman, no such luck.

Well, I guess I can now add a Radeon 9550 vid card to the list. Went out and bought it tonight. It's got 256 mb. It's a big improvement over the 9000. Half Life 2 runs flawlessly now. I know it's not a 9800 Pro, but it more than meets my needs for gaming.
