I am Lutheran myself but when someone comes to tell me how I should live my life based on Christianity or any other religion I will tell them to **** off. If you believe in it, feel free to do so but don't come and tell me to believe in it.

Now, hold on just a minute here. (Forgive me if you don't believe something I say here, for I'm not real sure about what Lutherans believe.) You mean to tell me that 1) you hold a belief that teaches that there is one way of salvation, that without salvation you're lost and condemned, and that you must hold to purdy strict (by the world's standards) morals; 2) that you believe it so strongly that you make those sacrifices wich it calls on you to make; and 3) that you DON'T believe it strongly enough to feel compelled to share it with someone else?! If I hold a belief that takes hold of my life and completely changes it and that I believe it is necessary for salvation, and I make the necessary sacrifices in my life to try and secure that salvation for myself, why in the world would I not have enough passion to get out in the world and try to save someone else? If it is truly all that important, why would I not try to share it? FOR the OTHER person?

Teaching right or wrong, that has nothing to do with religion. Birth control being bad?

Well, I guess this proves to me that you don't hold on to your belief very strongly. Religion has nothing to do with right and wrong?! I just can't even imagine that anyone claiming to believe the Bible could think that. Religion has everything to do with right and wrong. Take the Muslims; they thought that ramming those planes into the Twin Towers was right; why? Because of their religion.

You don't think birth control is bad? Well, maybe not birth control itself, but certainly the reason kids today need birth control. We shouldn't need that; abstinence (sp?) is the best birth control.

Given that all religions preach brotherhood, love for your fellow man and tolerance for all people without exception. Why is it that the world’s religions have never been able achieve unity?

I belief (and pray) that this will never happen. In order for different religions to come together and embrace each other and be as one, they are each going to have to make compromises in their beliefs. I believe in the Bible, and I believe that it is the inspired word of God. I sure don't want to compromise that in any way what so ever. And I'm sure the adherents of other religions think the same thing.

Clubhouse or not clubhouse, it violates the request of PA that we not talk about this subject....can you not get over your own desire to respond about something? No, we can't....can't seem to simply talk about audio....that would be CRAZY, like enjoying a Bose radio CRAZY!

You're right; I just couldn't resist; upon thinking about this, I supppose it IS against the rules.....however, they haven't stepped in and deleted it all yet.........besides, I couldn't resist......

from my blog: (2nd paragraph is the main point)

All the current "pseudo-issues" with the Christmas holiday have sparked many Christians and others to feel they need to "defend" this holiday. I use the term pseudo-issues because that is what they are: plain garbage legislated in the facade of fairness to all. The current hypersensitivity levels demonstrated in schools banning Christmas songs and trees, department stores refusing to wish people "Merry Christmas", and other random acts of christophobia have offended the many people who celebrate this holiday. So what this comes down to is this: in the attempt to not "offend" the few, they have offended the many and that is assuming that the people who live in America and don't celebrate Christmas are actually offended! A little weird isn't it? Borderline idiotic and illogical may be the correct labels.

It is counterproductive to discriminate in the name of diversity; Allowing some religious symbols but not others is just that, discrimination. Diversity by definition is the inclusion of all, not the exclusion of some. Those who feel offended by this season are themselves not celebrating the diversity they claim to be preaching.

In the end, there is nothing wrong with Christmas, that's it, nothing. Even those who don't celebrate it can still enjoy the free time to spend with family and friends. And what is wrong with that?

I'm Lutheran by default, it's a state religion. I really don't practice and I don't believe in everything the Lutheran church tells me to believe in. I'm not atheist but I'm not very religious either.

I should have clarified it a little more. It's ok to tell others how you believe but it is not ok to tell others what to believe in. The latter is something deeply religious people often do, they tell you their belief is the only right belief. That is wrong.

You can still teach what is right and what is wrong without involving religion. That is why religion has nothing to do with teaching right and wrong. I'm not very religious but I do have strong moral values, my believes of what is wrong and what is right. If the Christian God is such a forgiving and understanding good creature that is enough.

Selibacy doesn't work, God/nature/??? didn't create us that way. We are animals and we have the animal instinct to survive and reproduction is a vital key to that. Lust is a part of our survival and to take that away? No, the only correct way is birth control as we don't have enough natural enemies to control human population (wars, famine, diseases).

That is where religions fail, they go into too much detail and to make birth control and sex to be sin is a sure way to alienate a lot of people. Sex is natural and fun, it is wrong to make it such a taboo that it is in America. Everybody is doing it anyway...at least those who can get some.
