New school prayer

A principal at a local high school (Athens,Ga.) was suspended for reading this little prayer over the loud speaker...what do you think?

Now I sit me down in school Where praying is against the rule. For this great nation under God Finds mention of him very odd. If Scripture now the class recites, It violates the Bill of Rights. And anytime my head I bow Becomes a federal matter now. Our hair can be purple, orange or green That's no offence; it's a freedom scene. The law is specific, the law is precise. Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice. For praying in a public hall Might offend someone with no faith at all. In silence alone we must meditate, God's name is prohibited by the state. We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks, And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks. They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible, To quote the Good Book makes me liable. We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen, And the "unwed daddy" the Senior King. It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong. We can get our condoms and birth controls, Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles. But the Ten Commandments are not allowed, No word of God must reach this crowd. It's scary here I must confess, When chaos reigns, the school's a mess. So, Lord, this silent plea I make: Should I be shot, my soul please take! Amen.

There was never an issue about one specific religion being forced down people's throats.

As soon as you mention bible and 10 comandments you refer to a religion.....this may offend people who's beliefs are not in the bible.

    Thats all I was saying...

It's ignorant to believe (generally speaking, not pointing towards you)u that you can, or even should, ever try to please 100% of the people 100% of the time. If people have other beliefs outisde the bible or 10 commandments, great for them. Give them ear muffs and let them read their own stuff(I jest....I'm sure they'd **** because they'd be singled out for being the 'ear muffed' crowd).

It's a ridiculous mentality these people have that fight against (in the grand scheme of things) petty stuff like this.

If a vegetarian sees a commercial about Tyson Farms turkey and can actually find the inner fortitude to claw through and survive that ever so brutal 30 second commercial, I'm sure those with higher power faiths could struggle those same insanely painful 30 seconds to deal with something like a SILENT PRAYER.

    To the lunatics: STFU
To the Kids: Do what you want

you are right we will never be able to please every one....

Religion? All I see is a statement on how FU*KED UP this country has gotten for the sake of a few minority view points. It's got nothing to do with religion and everything to do with morals or should I say the total lack of them today.

    It may not be...

But the majority didnt seem to try to hard to stop 1 or 2 people from changing everything for everyone. If they did, its definetely not what I ever heard about...

People get offended way to easy... some people just need to learn to ignore things. People that don't learn that, need to have all sources of communication cut out from their lives...the world is safer that way...

This whole thing annoys me. No pledge of alligence, no God, no prayers etc. Now it is getting to the point you cannot say "Merry Christmas" to anyone. One school I heard about would not allow anyone to wear the colors red or green over the holidays. At their "Holiday" party they were mandated to use white plates only, no colors which could be construed with Christmas. Well, I got one thing to say...

    MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE !

Right. Though he may be(and, in my humble opinion, IS) correct, it's not the kind of thing you should do as a school principal.

I do applaud him for it though... the fact that he was suspended will give this some press, and hopefully bring this issue some more light so our society lightens up a bit.

    Yeah right.

    Merry Christmas to all.

The problem is that deeply religious (or hippocrate, the line is fine) people don't realise what is approriate and what is not. I am Lutheran myself but when someone comes to tell me how I should live my life based on Christianity or any other religion I will tell them to **** off. If you believe in it, feel free to do so but don't come and tell me to believe in it.

Teaching right or wrong, that has nothing to do with religion. Birth control being bad? Maybe he should make up his mind first, "pregnant Senior Queen, And the "unwed daddy" the Senior King.". Hello McFly...he should be suspended for stupidity alone, a high school principal should be smarter than that.

No, this thread does not belong in these forums.

Nope, because the Majority woulda gotten their butts sued off for it. The world is a mess right now, at least we know how it should be :)

i was watching J Leno tonite and he said something about people cant say merry christmas in some stores, they have to say happy holidays or something to that effect. he also mentioned that valentines day is related to God and that were eventually going to have to change that to "happy intimate friends day"

    Here we go again.....soapbox time.

You could insert the word "God" with "Matt Polk", "Ten Commandments" with "Placement Recommendations"....in other words, create your very own Polk Audio Mad Lib....hey, let's dumb it up a little....but noooooo.

Nothing like a thread that contains wasted effort of some genuine cool individuals....noone cares what you think about God, Allah, Buddha or Penisclese the God of Fornication.

Clubhouse or not clubhouse, it violates the request of PA that we not talk about this subject....can you not get over your own desire to respond about something? No, we can't....can't seem to simply talk about audio....that would be CRAZY, like enjoying a Bose radio CRAZY!
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Given that all religions preach brotherhood, love for your fellow man and tolerance for all people without exception. Why is it that the world’s religions have never been able achieve unity?

Maybe all the religion bosses could get together and put together a common prayer of unity?

    Merry Christmass to all.
