sub wiring, line level vs. speaker level

I recently purchased the RM6750 Polk system. This system also came with the Yamaha RX-V450 AVR. In the "RM Theather Setup Guide" it says to connect the sub via speaker inputs. Then set the front speakers to sml and Bassout to front, thus giving the full range of sound to the sub. It claims this will give the sub its best performance. Is this true? Is there really an advantage hooking the sub up this way vs. using a sub cable and the AVR sub out to sub line in? Thanks for the help....

It all depends on the AVR being used. If you have an AVR with the sub output I would use that setup over the speaker input on the sub. With the sub output on the AVR you are using the bass management of the receiver vs. the balance of sub setting the front speakers volume.
