Yeah, spill your guts. I wanted to get them also, but the power factor came into play. When I got this system in January, I didn't have any extra cash to buy a stronger amp. That is the reason I didn't try to get them.:(
I'd still like to know what it would be like to hear a pair. Those big **** are what, 500w each right? If so I would have to move into a tent if I turned them up too loud.:D As a matter of fact, I get derrty looks from the old lady right now if I crank my RTi10s up too loud. <(the old lady)Main Set-up: 55" 120 hz Samsung LN55B650, Onkyo TX-SR806, Emotiva XPA-5, Emotiva XPA-2, PS3 Slim, Sony BDP-S560, Apple TV (160g), Panamax M5300-PM, Polk Audio CSi5, RTi10's, FXi3's, RTi4's, and SVS PB12 Plus

I don't I'm trying for 8's but I have seen those 12's and they are tall yes but deep, HOLY CRAP they are. Lets just say for the size of them you'd want a big room or the tweets will be right in your ears they are that deep.... my wife tells me 1000x a day not to exagerate so much  but they are massive

Steve...
If you are looking for a strong music performer...
Well, they arnt for you...
The LSi line is better suited for music, or the older Polks. Or the First RT line...
I heard these at Polk with a bunch of other members, and the general thought when we went back to the 'board room' was there was something missing...
And there was, especially for music...
For DVD-A, they were pretty good with all 5 speakers on- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
What is the down fall of the RTi12s on music Sid?Main Set-up: 55" 120 hz Samsung LN55B650, Onkyo TX-SR806, Emotiva XPA-5, Emotiva XPA-2, PS3 Slim, Sony BDP-S560, Apple TV (160g), Panamax M5300-PM, Polk Audio CSi5, RTi10's, FXi3's, RTi4's, and SVS PB12 Plus

Well, one of the things that was pointed out in the 'board room' was they had about zero depth in the instruments, vocals etc, and not to mention they were bright...
They also didnt have alot of bass considering all the subs they had. But they were only being pushed with a 200 watt Conrad Johnson, so who knows...
I think the RTi6 and a subwoofer would be a better combination than the RTi12...
The RT line is called...
REFERENCE THEATER for a reason ya know? They do good in music, but their real talent is theatrical production- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Are there any monster amps out there powerfull enough to put them to the test?Main Set-up: 55" 120 hz Samsung LN55B650, Onkyo TX-SR806, Emotiva XPA-5, Emotiva XPA-2, PS3 Slim, Sony BDP-S560, Apple TV (160g), Panamax M5300-PM, Polk Audio CSi5, RTi10's, FXi3's, RTi4's, and SVS PB12 Plus

I don't have the 12's, but the 10's are strong performers for HT. Willow is right -- them 12's are too damn big. My 10's are huge (room size 13' x 20'); they looked a lot smaller in the showroom, so I can imagine that the 12'swould engulf an average size room.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

The RTi12's are better than LSi if you are doing rock.

I liked them, and if I bought anything in the new RTi line, it would be the RTi12's.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I've had a pair for a while now and don't really have any complaints about them. They can be a bit on the bright side as was noted above, but that's when I'm blasting the music at near ear piercing levels. I also don't have the grilles on, which could make a little bit of a difference.
I'm only running them off of my B&K AVR 307 (150 wpc) and feel that they're doing just fine. The only reason that I'd look for something bigger amp-wise is if some stupid deal was just slapping me in the face.
More power would be fine, but there's nothing wrong with them as is, and until that stupid deal arrives, they'll be just fine as they are.....comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -

Have had our 12's for about 3 months now, they are just starting to "open up" I also picked up an CSi5 center...the brightness is in the new tweeters...to"me",what seems bright to some,is actually a more detailed sound compared to our former RTi70's and CSI40...
I just picked up an Adcom 5503 (3x200) to power the 12's and the 5...big improvement on detail and sound quality...I like the 12's for HT and for 2-channel listening, but I have never done an in-home demo with the LSI series...so I can't give you a good comparison.
I picked up the 12's when C.C. was closing out the RTI Series at a big discount,If I were to pay close to retail I would had opted for the LSI 15's...
Best advice I can give is try to hear a pair first, would I buy them again? Yes,without a doubt... -
I own LSi 15s but was seriously considering the 12s. They sound pretty darn good IMO. They were only $100 or so less than the 15s which I think sounds a bit smoother...if you know what I mean. I think it would make a great HT speakers and loud, rock music speakers. They did pretty good with classical but was, again, not as smooth....
If RTi is Reference Theater, what is LSi? Pardon the ignorance....System 1: Martin Logan Vantage, Rotel RC 1070, B&K Reference 200.2, Music Hall DAC 15.2, Yamaha 2300

Mike, our home theaters are freakishly similar!
I have the RTi12's, CSi5, FXi5's (instead of 500's), Hitachi 51" (instead of 57"), and SVS CS-Ultra (instead of PC-Ultra). -
Tre,Yes I have adjusted the speak placement...the imaging of the 12"s is VERY good...I still have have to check the AVR to see if I have it set to 5-channel or 2-channel stereo...
Fireshoes,What can I say man...Great minds think alike!!! -
