go see the wave radio and ask him what they mean by "plays one actave lower" lower than what ?
wave radio again " how can those two lil speakers fill my whole room with rich full sound?
any system: where are your specs?
any system: ok you have the cubes and bass module...where are you tweeters and sub? how low does your bass module go down to?
for such a high end system why do you use 18-20 awg wire?
if the cubes and module are all you have...how can those two reproduce all frequencies..
to get kicked out say : how do you sleep at night knowing what you sell is overpriced and not high quality goods? -
From my trip to the one in Grapevine......
Salesman
"Anything I can help you with?"
Me
"No, just looking, I have this same set at home, looking for a different color." Of course not really........good God.
Salesman
"Oh, OK, well it comes in black and white."
Me
"Really? Mine are mahogany."
Salesman
"Mahogany? Really? This system???"
Me
"Yup, they're upgraded."
Salesman
"Upgraded? How so?
Me
"Well, see, I replaced the cubes with blocks of wood. MUCH BETTER! The frequency response is amazingly better!"
Here I thought only my wife could make "that look".Go BIG or go home! -
I would ask him what his dream system consists of. If the word Bose comes anywhere in the following sentences, you can save yourself a lot of breath.
If he is honest with you, ask whatever you want to know!ADCOM GTP-830 (pre-amp)

Dude, that is some seriously funny stuff!!! LMFAO!!!
Try this one also...
Go in and walk over to the demo table with the transparent bass module containing the little styrofoam beads. Tell the salesman you wish to buy a bag of the styrofoam beads because thats the only thing worth buying in their store.
Happy shopping. Report back!

THATS PRICELESS!!!!!! LOL!!!!!
And you know, that wouldnt be to bad dude considering most of the vocals come out of that thing! LMAO!!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
On a more serious note ask this:
1. Why did Bose finally decide to go with a dome tweeter, vs the cone-type they have used for so long?
2. Is the 701 a true folded horn or transmission line design?
3. On your direct-reflecting models, is the ambient tweeter wired in or out of phase with the main drivers?
Those are questions I've never been able to get an answer for on my mall expeditions.
Cheers,

And on a far from serious note...
Go over to the transparent bass module (again), look at the beads moving back and forth. Take your hand and put it in front of the bass port and go...
"Damn, that thing moves some serious air in and out. I bet it would feel like a world class ****!"
Start unzipping your pants and going for your belt while saying..."Man, I gotta try this **** out! If it's good enough, I'll dump my girl and take a truckload of these!"
Ahhhh, always a great laugh at Bose's expense.

Bring in your OWN music to the Bose store, and ask the salseman to demo your music.

Can you guys think of other companies that rape the consumers are hard as Bose does? I'm having a hard time trying to think of any. Like, for instance, the new $2999 system is probably worth $750 tops, which means they are raping you 400%

I converted a couple today that were fresh from the Bose store! I went through my broken record Bose encounter for the 100th time.
"Bose is the best"
"Did you compare them to other speakers directly?"
"No, we were at the Bose store"
(u know the rest)
I a/b'd with the Polk Monitor speakers, and they were floored to how crappy the Bose sounded.

Oakley sunglasses. They've been raping for years with their plastic sunglasses. -

At least someone could argue Oakleys are better looking than other sunglasses. No one can make an argument in favor of Bose. -
I agree with Shizelbs. I don't think even 1% of the population would choose Bose over another speaker priced the exact same if they ever had the chance to compare them.

Yup, $20 for the shades, and another $120-200 for the squashed O.Go BIG or go home!

Yeah, over the years, they've came up with lots of names for plastic, ie "Unobtainium." I bet they cost about $1 to make. I can get them at cost and I still don't buy them.
They have "hypoallergenic frames", like when is the last time you saw somebody sneezing and they said, 'Oh, its just my sunglasses."
I could go on and on.... -

Nuance speakers. Compared to these guys Bose is a bargain. No specs available, non-removable grills, limit to only one dealer per city to eliminate any possible competition. Speakers that start with a MSRP of $15000 per pair that I have personally seen dropped as low as $2500 tax incl. and I still thought they were overpriced by about $1500 - 2000. They also use Q-sound demos to show off how 2 speakers can sound as good as 5. They are the bottom of the barrell sleaze when it comes to speakers. Right up there with the white van guys.

Questions I have asked:
Can I use one of these Acoustimass speaker systems with my Onkyo HY reciever? Answer: No, sir.
Do you know what the crossover slopes on the "bass module" are? Answer: No, sir.
-- Why does it sound like it's playing through a sock? Answer: Uh, what do you mean?
-- Where is the upper frequency extension? Answer: I do not understand what you are asking?
-- Can you tell me what the upper limit of the frequency range is? Answer: No, sir.
What is the slew rate of the amplifier? Do you know what the THD is of the output stage? Answer: Bose manufacturers high quality home audio equipment, I assure you that the specifications will exceed your expectations.
Then why is Bose so reluctant to allow me to see the specifications? Answer: They are proprietary information sir.
How can I compare this system with another one from your competitors? Answer: Bose has no competition, it is in a class of it's own, sir!
(Muttering) Boy they really go you brainwashed, huh?
Well, can you tell me how much this particular system costs? Answer: A gajillion dollars, sir!
Holy! Say, let me know something? Do you know what my **** looks like? Answer: No sir, why would I know that? That was inappropriate.
Well, you'd better know so you know which one to kiss! The only inappropriate thing going on here is this sham and the highway robbery being committed here!
That was the last "serious" Bose inquiry I had it got me kicked out of the Bose store AND mall security asked me to leave the premisis. Glad it was at a broke-**** mall in Michigan.
Wanna hear what a Bose speaker REALLY sounds like? Save for the few stereo speakers from Bose that are worth some consideration, if you hooked up those retarded little cubes to a REAL receiver, well,...I'll put it this way...I'll bet RuSsMaN's **** after a night of beer and Carne Asada cheese fries sounds better and probably more in tune too!Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Don't Buy the bose Be careful. Make sure they have a sub input on the sub. Make sure the sub is powered. I made the mistake of buying the bose am-10's. Buy the Polk rm6900's, they sound so much better.
Here is a piece of the review I wrote for the bose am-10 series II
If you are considering a Bose system (am-10 series II) please read the following and have some consideration before you spend your hard earned money!
I recently owned a Bose system (am-10 series II) connected with the Harmon Kardon (avr-225) receiver. The sound was good but slacked on bass tremendously. I really did not know all about how the Bose systems worked just yet, all I knew is that the Bose System was the talk of the town and was definitely the system to buy, because of some top rated reviews. I suppose that my expectations of receiving what you pay for was way to high. In my opinion as for now, from what I have learned, the Bose system was probably designed for stereos that lack in quality due to the fact that it does not have a sub input or, any power pushing the sub unit. This Bose system does not receive a low signal, it only allows your receiver to push out the mid and high ranges in to your speakers. I added a Definitive Tech 300w sub ($350.00). The system was improved, but still needed way more help. I was originally looking for more of a rich deep sound that would fill the room with clarity, great highs, mids, and bass that would pull you in no matter what you are listing to. For all the money I invested in this system (saving for years to get the system of my dreams) I felt deprived of my investment. I remembered that I did purchase a 10-year warranty with Circuit City for the Bose system. I returned the bass unit several years later and commented on the return note: lacking original performance. Once I returned the system, I received a phone call from Circuit City stating that my Bose System was damaged in shipment and I was given the choice of either having a new one delivered or a store credit. I could not have been more happier! The decision was a no brainier! Of course I received the credit for the original price ($999.99) and purchased the Polk RM6900. The reviews on this system are at a minimum as of now because it is a new model that Circuit City is carrying. It was on sale for $899.00 reg. Price $1199.00 (in Canada it goes easy for $1500.00) This system is amazing. I highly recommend this Polk system and give it a 5 out of 5. It fills the room with clarity and such perfection of quality sound. My Harmon Kardon (avr-225) receiver came to life! The only review I have read on this particular system stated that the Polk RM6900s make the Bose system sound like an A.M Radio! I am now hearing the reality of that review. A couple of my friends were over the other night . They were highly impressed.
The Polk surround sound systems do come with speaker mounts vs Bose, mounting brackets not included (Bose wall/ceiling mounts = $29.99 each!) My opinion is, If you are going to purchase the Bose system, I would compare that to trying to save gas by driving a MAC truck to work everyday! What a waste! Bose Blowes! Do your self a favor, be good to yourself an buy Polk! And please dont cheat yourself on wiring use 12 gauge speaker wiring with Monster cabling. The difference will make it or break it. Using the recommended wires and cable here will enhance the quality and performance of your system by far.Greg -
Ok, now that you've ditched bose (congrats)
Ditch that Monster cable...
yuck!
Good luck!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
