I need some help.
Am trying to replace foam rings on an old set of 12" woffers. They told me to use white paper glue, but is this good enough for the foam to Aluminum bond. If not, what can I use.

Hello there,
First off i want to say that I'm fairly new to the audio/vintage stuff....love it, and made some huge rookie mistakes !! However, I lucked out this eve and scored a pair of pristine condition 5JR.....OMG is all I have to say !
The sound that these little black beauties put out is absolutely incredible ( mine have the silver dome tweeter ) I dont know much about these speakers, but what I do know its the $55 dollars I've spent to date since my jump into this vintage audio stuff.
On that note, they sound incredible but I have a small version of OSD, and I have noticed on one of the speakers ( the lower speaker ) the screws have been removed previously and poorly put back. After closer inspection of the actual speaker ( sounds perfect ) the cone part has some slight variations in its condition, ie: small creases ! apparently it doesn't seem to effec the sound but bothers me to hell.....lol
I would like to purchase a replacement speaker, so that if one day it gets the best of I'm prepared to act...! or if someone can point in the right direction as to where to find/purchase. As well, any information about my new addition to my family would be greatly appreciated.
I have a pair of POLK AUDIO 5JR 40382 Monitor Series ( all black with silver tweeters )
Regards

Pull out the driver in question and you'll see a MWxxxx number on the back. Call Polk at 1-800-377-7655 with that driver number to order a new one.Political Correctness'.........defined

For future reference, the glue you want to use for surrounds is Alene's Tacky Glue , available at Walmart in the arts and crafts section. Also available at other craft stores.

Russ
I concur; this is what I've been using for the past year or so. Use it like contact cement; i.e., coat both surfaces and let them dry for 30 minutes or more, THEN press them together and smooth down the edge and/or clamp for "a while" to make sure they're set. -
first i am new to this and i hope i am posting this in the correct way.
i saw above to use Alene's Tacky Glue.
i need to surround several woofers and my question is this glue safe??
in a past life i worked at a shop were we rebuilt speakers and had to be careful what
type of glues we used. we found that over time some glues attacked the surround .
i just want to make sure i get the correct glue
Thanks JNG
