I'm not a Ford guy, but I really like the front end of that car. They pulled off the old look/new car thing really well. I think they dropped the ball when they got to the other end though.

I TOTALLY agree with that. I think the front end is hot, but the back end looks too much like last years model. Also though, what sucks about the headlights is that the outside lights are just covered in that basic plastic headlight cover, except that it's not a part of the light, it's just over it (by 3-5" distance) which looks odd.

I'm not too impressed with it, and seeing it in person actually made it less impressive in appearance to me. It is at least better looking than the Mustang as of late.

looks aside (which i like across the board, especially with those louvers!!!!!) the significant improvements reside in handling and ride quality. supposed to be a dramatic improvement over older models.

Looks awesome PolkThug. I really hope you get it. I've always had an affinity for Mustangs in the past. I test drove a newer style Cobra some years back and I loved it.

No bandwagon jumper here! From the first time I saw the 2005 prototype I've said one of these would be the next shackmobile. A GT for sure or maybe the rumored 06 SVT Cobra if I can swing it (an artist's concept here):

    112_0402_mustang002_z.jpg

Not a question of if.....but when. I drove a GT last week and it is everything I expected. Ford has done this one right. I see Mustang #4 in the stable in the next 12-24 months!

I'm generally totally against US cars, but the new Mustang looks great. I saw my first one on the road this weekend.... too bad it was lime green. That person should have been shot!

Other cars I would like to own:
    Evo 8
    Lotus Elise
Skyline (supposedly being made for the domestic market sometime soon)

Skyline in the US you say? :)

There are rumors of the Supra reemerging sometime soon also. Should that ever be true, consider myself the first in line.

I may buy a 1997 Supra someday soon if I can find a decent one.

I'm sorry, but I just don't get this "retro-look" thing. I don't want my new vehicle to look like an old one, unless it IS an old one! What? Do they just not have any designers who can come up with anything original?? And I'm not just knocking Ford: It's hard to look at GM's new stuff and keep a straight face. Maybe they need to do MORE retro....

I just don't get it. But they'll probably sell well, so what do I know!

Retro is in, weather we like it or not...... They will sell like hot cakes. because true car buffs love the old cars and love a old car revamped with fuel injection and new technology... Its the best of both worlds.. I love retro old and new alike.. the new mustang, the new chevy.. Pt cruiser , dodge has some great new cars as well.... New GTO.. all cool idea's IMO...... way over priced IMO also.. but cool non the less. Selling retro stuff is my business so i can relate to the car craze of late

Yeah, this will be Mustang #3 for me. Its what I've always wanted, the old body style with newer technology. Hopefully it won't be Fix Or Repair Daily, like my other ones. :)

Don't get me wrong, the last two Bimmers I've had have been PIMP, and its cool to go to casinos and they park your car by the front doors, but I've always missed the feeling of 225-300hp under my foot. I'm hoping to get enough out of my Bimmer to get a supercharger for the stang.

Shooting for next April or May on this.

    Regards,
    PolkThug

That really isn't much to say, considering the old models. :)

The front looks really good, I will have to go and test drive one to see how much better the handling is. I'm dissappointed it's still solid axle.

Rumor has it that the '06 Cobra will have 500hp and 500lb ft torque out of the factory.

    SICK **** NUMBERS!!!

I love the new Stangs, but I'll keep my '93 LX with the 347 stroker I had built for it.

Give me the '69 Boss Mustang anyday over the new one. Course, it's a tad more expensive then the new one (probaby three or four times more).

You can do what I once did, and build your own Boss out of a cheaper Mustang.

    Boss recipe:
    Find a 302
Go to junkyard and get the heads off a 351 (plentiful)
    Crane cam
    Edelbrock intake
    Holley 4B

You will be the king of the 1/8 mile street race! I was, until my Dad totalled it.

I think its more like 390hp for the Cobra, and 460hp for the GT-R. I'd verify, but at work I'm blocked from most of the car sites.

From the pictures, I was sure I liked the new Mustang. I thought it brought back enough of the old styling with enough new 'hard' & 'sharp' edges to really look good. However, I saw my first one in person Sunday, and boy! I sure don't like it! Overall they have a great shape for the front end, but it looks like they quit before they finished. It seems to me that the car has a lot of (asthetic) potential, but they didn't do enough with it. When I saw one Sunday I told Dad, "There's the new Mustang!!" It's so bland that it actually took my dad about a minute before he saw it (and he's as car-crazy as me....well, almost).

Now, as for specs, this thing's got me worried! It could almost compete with the new 'Vette C6!! That's kinda scary....

I like that Dodge, Jeol....wouldn't happen to be yours, would it? lol

I also really like Eleanor......might be one of my cars one day....assuming I make it out rich and get the other 15 cars I'd want first....:D
