I'm on helpdesk duty today too but no one is here so it's pretty dead.

I already had my beer along with some fries and about 20 garlic wings! MMMMMMM!!!!!! Nummay!

So now I stink like garlic wings and everybody is leaving me the hell alone!

Good for me! Bad for them! Just wait until the angry-**** kicks in!

    LMAO!!!

Damn dude, my help desk phone has been going like mad all day. We did a systems software upgrade last week. Our small number of NT 4.0 machines are not liking it. I HATE NT!!!!! Doesn't help that the boss decided to take off today. The head honcho don't answer the help desk line. It's all me today!

We had pizza brought in for those of us that showed up for work. Like you Jstas, my "Guns of Navarone" **** will be firing in just a little while.

    INCOMING!!!!!

I still want that damn beer.

My boss is out today too but not a problem whether he is here or not. He doesn't necessarily do hotline calls but he's a very involved manager which is a good thing.

However, we mainly do UNIX support, Solaris and Linux, and our environment works very well, even after upgrades. So hotline calls are aggravating because they are mostly BS calls from eitherpushy users or users who have no idea what they are doing. The rest are machine moves for when users get moved or new users come in. So yeah, it can suck but be cool at the same time.

I think it's time to put a movie in the DVD player though. Hmmm, what to watch...

You called it and are absolutely correct. The Lucent 5E/ECP complex is a very elagent and robust platform. I have experience with Nortel and Ericcson and will say I highly doubt they will ever catch Lucent.

Yea, it's rare that the 5E platform has a hard failure that wasn't software initiated in the first place...ala one of the worker bees.

John, shut up and work! haha

baby duty pulled me away from this post but how the whole thing started is rather embarrassing. While flexing the UPS and the tech's went from gen back to commercial breakers were kicked that went undetected. The batteries took the load nearly all day but finally died taking out the messaging between the 5E and ECP.

Unfortunatly through the years of growing the system the scan points on the 5E must have been disabled because there were no alarms at the NOC or in our office. This is not good at all and trust me when I say the **** chewings have already began.

Ultimatly this will reside as my responsibility since I'm ultimatly responsible for the configuation.

If I start selling my HT and 2 channel rigs on the forum you'll know why:(
