I still have a Hi Fi Beta

I've still got one too! After all, Beta was SO much better than VHS.....:p

Mine seems to have been possessed, however. It switches functions at-will. Play, FF, record, whatever. I've been attempting to transfer some old Beta home movies to DVD, and I've had to knock out all the record-protect tabs on my tapes to keep the thing from recording over them. Now it just ejects them whenever it wants! If you lived closer we might work out a deal on your Beta machine. Mine is made out of metal, though, and weighs more than most HT receivers. Shipping would be high.

It's too bad the days of the VCR is slowly fading away.....however, I'm still very happy using my 4 vcrs ..from the Sony,Toshiba,Panasonic HIFI to my JVC super VHS. I will evently will have end up purchasing a DVD recorder but not much in a hurry for now but will have to pick up a few spare vcrs just in case all the record/play back heads all wear out with my present players and the stores stop selling them.

My first vcr was a JVC pop up version that I/parents purchased back in 1983 (the days when the music videos started to appear). My only problem with that older models was that the cord for the remote started to act funny and I had to get off my seat inorder to fast forward all the commericals.

Ahhhh...'em good old days when remotes were "corded".

On my mom's old RCA VCR, the "corded" remote was an optional thing that attach to the side of the VCR.
