I'm getting ready to install some inwalls tonight/tomorrow. I wanted to paint the speakers to match the room, using a can of spray paint..

Supposed to be easy, but the inside of the grilles have a soft clothlike membrane whic h if painted will plug the holes. I tried to take it out, but it's stuck good and just sort of peels layers, but does not come out cleanly.

So, are they supposed to be out permanently during normal playing of the speakers

Are they supposed to come out at all?

Are they needed for some sort of acoustical reason?

Thanks

does this mean you found a way to in-wall instead of on-wall w/ enclosures?

    Hi scottnbnj
This was for the side speakers, which I completed this weekend. I was looking at enclosures for the surround back speakers, but I won't be dealing with that for a while yet.

When I do get surround back speakers to match , and I fully plan to, I'll have to figure out what to do. Lsi7's or LC65i.

How goes your setup? Are you planning on building enclosures?

yeah, i'm going to build enclosures to mount on a sloped wall/ceiling on the 2nd floor of a cape cod.

it's a bedroom system and it seems to be the only way to get a placement that will work with how the rest of the room has to be layed out. i'm thinking that building the enclosures will allow me to not disturb the the roof insulation and ventilation, give me flexibility in placing them on the horizontal axis and a seamless integration with the entertainment unit.

the room still needs lots of work though before cabinets and components get to the top of the list.
