It finally happened. I picked up some 1.2TL's yesterday in L.A.
One of those amazing twists of fate. I've been looking for over a year. Posted ads in every place possible and nothing came of it.
The seller bought them from his deceased Godfathers widow, and
decided he didin't really have the equipment or space to put them to good use. He has been trying to sell them for 4 months, with no one even calling on them. Avertising in all the wrong places I guess. He was about to give up and move them to the garage.

Just for the hell of it, he did a google search on them, and one of my WTB ads came up. So he sends an email. I had used my girlfriends email to place the ad, I forgot about it and she checks this acct. about once a month. She saw his email, now 3 weeks old and forwards it to me.

Cut to scene of me hauling **** to L.A. to pick up what turned out to be a pair of 9 out of 10 Oak 1.2TL's
I got back and set them up last night at 2am As freaking tired as I was, I couldn't go to sleep I just kept sitting there listening and smiling.

AWESOME!

    You owe Russman a beer!

Grills are resting in a safe place.

Alright, if I tell you, don't start throwing things.
    .
    $1400.

Plus the 12 hours of time and gas to get there and back,
but nothing but smiles on this end.
    Pictures later tonight after work.

My camera doesn't have a wide enough angle lens to capture them head on.
It's kind of funny how freaking huge these speakers are.
There are a full grown set of 1C's behind them that can't even be seen when looking at them head on.
I set them up in the theater because it was the closest room, and at 1am last night that was about all I could muster.

I have to give props to the "little lady"
She waited up for me to get home, then the two of us carried them in the house.

Tomorrow I'll move them to their proper room, and take some better pictures.

This is a pretty big deal for you Luc.

I think you should take some time, write it down, and give us one of your better limerick's on the 1.2's. Haven't had a good limerick from you in quite some time.

    Cheers,

Way to go. That is about half price. What a deal! If you get them set up properly and use a decent amp you will be set for a long time. Be warned though, you won't be impressed any longer with even really expensive 5K+ speakers. The SDA's will ruin you for other speakers.

As soon as I can get some time infront of these babies,
I'm sure one will come to me.

Right now I'm running a separate 20 amp line into the 2 channel room, moving gear here and there, then back again, lol
Both ends of the house, are a wreck, but there is sound at the end of the tunnel,
    and it sounds sweet.

A Polkhead named Luc near the Bay,
Was obsessed by the dread SDA.
    He searched and he searched,
    Then up a pair lurched,
In his girlfriend's inbox one day.

He burned a hot trail to LA,
Driving the night and the day,
    He exclaimed "what the *uck?!
    Imagine my luck.
The seller was giving them away!"

    Little did Polkhead Luc know,
The upgrade seeds they would sow,
    The cash that he'd saved,
    Wouldn't spare the poor knave,
From the fortune he soon was to blow.

Nice... Much better than the leather laden room they were in. Looks like they could use a little adjustment, however... :D

Very clean looking Eq rack to boot. What's the line up?

Those speaker runs make the power cord look like a spaghetti noodle. What are they?

But that poor plant... it'll never know what hit it...

The cables are monster Z2's .
    In the rack:
    Bryston 4B ST amp
    Bryston BP 25 pre amp
    Yamaha RX Z1 Receiver (tuner)
    Sony ES CD changer
    Sony ES Tape deck.
In the Back corner (out of view)
    SVS PCI 16-46

However, if I'd known how deep the 1.2's dig, I could have skipped the sub.

You may have noticed that the floor is still not tiled...lol...(which was the prerequisite for my girlfriends approval) .
    So far she's buying the:
("I'm working on it Honey, good tunes motivate me.") strategy.

    Luc,

Looks nice! If you'll permit me, you could take the whole system up to a entire new level with a cdp that matches the level of the other gear......something with tubes would be very sweet.

Agree, Jesse. Even an outboard DAC might produce some additional magic.
