Hi folks, I'm interested in buying a new universal Remote Control (URC). Any recommendations. I'm planning to get a Hometheater Master MX-500 URC. I've also read the detailed review on it. I love it because it does everything that I'm looking for. If you know any other brand/model then please tell me.

I'll be buying it online, so let me know where to get one!

Thx!:)

I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago in this thtread:

    http://clubpolk.polkaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23081

The first two(Sony) do well with simple systems.

For complicated systems, I would still go with the Harmony 768.

You can find it for $150 or less if you look. I found it on overstock.com for around $120.

    Hope this helps

The MX-500 is an excellent remote. I have one. But for the price and value today, I'd go with Harmony.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

I'd take a look at the Harmony 680 and 676. I have the 659, but I think the placement of the DVD/VCR/DVR buttons are more convienent on the next two models up.

Taking a quick look at the remote you are considering it looks like the difference is that the Harmony doesn't have quite as many customizable buttons listed on the LCD. It is, however, probably a hell of a lot easier to program the way you want it.

I've seen harmony remotes. They look more ediot-proof and simple to use, I like HT MX-500 it looks more advance and professional especially when you own separates, you know what I mean!;) . It has a really good backlit on the buttons in the dark. There is also a joystick type button for navigation which is an excellent feature on it. The battery cover is much better also.

I'll go with the HT MX-500. I found it on www.amazon.com for $69.99 but there is no international shipping available for it. I live in Canada and www.amazon.ca doesn't carry it. TOO BAD! :(

    Where I can buy it?

I suggest going with the Mx700 or the mx800. Much better remotes and the 800 has RF.
