Will this combo work? I have not spent the money yet. I am looking at the LSI7s and the LSIc and the RCi6 for my system. I am concernd that the Denon, being a 6ohm receiver will not work well with the LSI7s since they are a 4ohm speaker. I don't know much about this stuff as I am getting started by jumping in with both feet. I don't want to wast money. I am open to other recievers.

Thanks,
Jleath

For short term, low volumes the 3805 would be ok.

For long term, HT type of use, the 3805 wouldn't be preferable.

If you really like the 3805 get it, but also plan on getting separate amp/s via the preouts to run your LSI's later on down the line.

My heart is not set on the Denon 3805, can you all suggest an alternative? I don't think I want to spend a grand on the 3805 and then have to spend (I don't know how much the apms would cost) to buy the amps.

    Thanks,

I second the outlaw setup. Pre-amp and amp for around $1600.

Too much trouble. I think I am just going to go with the Paradigm Monitors. Thanks for your help.

Trouble? Doing your homework and trying to get the best electronics for a superior speaker is too much trouble? Might as well buy a Bose system.

Its not that. I was deciding between the LSI7s and the Paradigms in the begining. I had decided to go with the LSI7s because I liked the guy that I was buying them from. I don't want to have to buy a separate amp to run my speakers. The Paradigms are well reviewed and are a solid value. This way, I am saving money on both the amp, and the speakers. Thanks again.

I understand, just hate to see you spend your cash on a speaker that (IMHO) is outclassed by the LSi's. You gotta do what you gotta do I guess.

By the way, sweet system. Those DIY tables are pretty trick. Did you simply weld the posts to the reels? I will have a room dedicated to HT in my next house.

The LSi7s are very nice, but the impedance was too low (or high depending on how you look at it) to run off of the Dennon (although some have suggested otherwise). In the end, I save a bit of scratch and my wife is happier.

    Thanks again,

The tables are put together using all-thread and nuts/washers.
Gonna have 2 pair for sale in the near future.

I have a 3805 and love it, but I do use QSC power amps for the LSI 9s and 7s. Sounds killer. I would say most of the $$ in a 3805 is going towards the preamp section anyway

in that case, might as well went with the 2805 if all you're doing is using it as a preamp. The 3805 adds the better remote (could be bought seperately) and 3rd zone capabilities (I'll never use it and how many people really will?). Plus, the 2805 comes with the mic where the 3805 requires you to buy it. That makes sense?

i'm going through the same debate. i'm deciding whether to get the denon 2805 or the 3805. i don't want to get a preamp now because the ones i'm looking at will definitely be a future purchase. i just want something for now that will still make my lsi's sound good. so, in my opinion it comes down to the two denons. i have the outlaw 7100 amp 7 channels- so powering the speakers won't be a problem. i'm leaning more towards the 2805 since there's not much of a difference between the two.

Look what H/K has to offer. Amps on their receivers are high current so running LSi7's wouldn't be a problem. I am using H/K AVR7200 with 5 LSi7's and it plays them on high volumes without complaining. I have tested running the mains with separate amplifiers but it would have been a waste of money for me as I didn't hear any improvement.

Hi, I have the Denon 3803 (not the 3805 but probably similar) and it's driving LSi15s (front), LSiC (center), and 4 LSi9s (surrounds and back). No, I don't blast the system to the max but it plays fine at reasonably loud levels in a 22x14x8 room.

As I gather, the LSis are a very benign 4 ohms, operating primarily at 6 ohms. And check out the
Denon FAQ (see Item #9) where they say 4 ohm speakers are OK as long as some care is exercised.
    Multichannel Music:

    Sony SCD-C2000ES SACD
    Denon 3803 AVR (pre/pro duty)
    Outlaw 755 amp
    Outlaw ICBM
    Polk LSi15/LSiC/LSi9 (front/center/surround)
    SVS PCU

    HT:

    Sony 9100ES DVD
    Outlaw 990 pre/pro
    Outlaw 7100 amp
    Panasonic TH-37PX50U plasma
    Polk RTi8/CSi5/RTi6/FXi5(front/center/surround/back)
    SVS PCU

i'm also in the same boat. I'm looking at getting lsi9, lsic, lc60i. I'm waiting for the h/k 435 to come out and add a pre-amp to it. I'm hoping the would good enough for mostly HT. I have 3 more weeks to find some good deals. Hoping the H/K release the 435 soon.

Why Denon??? If you really like the Lsi series speakers , then consider a Rotel receiver like the 1056 or a used 1055.

They don't have all the bells and whistles but sound much better then the Denons........all of them.

Well, I have yet to find a preamp that has 3 component video in's and does video upconversion to component out. When I find one and is halfway reasonable on price, I'd go that route. But personally, I need both of those features... hence my love for the Denon.
