    Yobear:
IMHO, you're going to regret taking the Onkyo over the HK. Onkyo uses more negative feedback and has less high current capability. With all that you're spending on the room, an extra few bucks for the HK will seem like pocket change. The sound difference is noticeable, less life-like.

That being said, I'm insanely jealous of your room

    that's a beautiful setup.

considering the size of the room you might want to think about separate amps like from outlaw or adcom or wherever if your Onkyo has pre-outs- but ONLY if you can't get the desired volume you want.

    fronts- rti4
    center- csi3
    sides- fx300i dipole
    rear- fx300i bipole

After viewing that amazing set up, I think a dedicated amp is definitely in order.....
Beautiful work on the HT room - and a lobby to boot?!! I laughed out loud when I first saw the pics - mainly because I don't have the room (or $$) to be able to pull something like that off - That is absolutely tooooooo cooool!!! Congratulations sir, what a wonderful job!!!!!

Sub in the open is 0db gain, against a wall adds 1.5 db gain, moving the sub to the corner will "corner load" it and produce another 1.5 dbs of reinforced bass with the same power.

The 3 db gain produced by corner loading compensate some for the losses from the distance to your seating.

The room turned out truly "Top Shelf"!! You should be very proud of what you've done and will be happy with the results once you get it all dialed in to give you the best sound!

Thanks all for your kind comments they are much appreciated! Even though I still have some more dialing in to do the enjoyment factor of having a dedicated theater is overwhelming for both my family and friends we are just having a blast.. Movies and even video games have never been more fun.

I don't post much but I lurk quite often on this site if it wasn't for the experience/knowledge level of you all this would never have been possible. Thanks!! I'll post final photos when I completely satisfied or completely out of money.

Tip of the hat to you Yobear....damn fine job. The room looks incredible. I'm sure you'll get much enjoyment out of it. Please keep us up to date and give us more impressions once you get it dialed in.

I'm almost complete-- well for this year that is! I hid all the exposed wires in the rear of the theater along with adding another Polk sub to the front sound stage. I also strategically installed 12ea 2X2 sound acoustical panels throughout the room. The last finishing touches have been ordered and shouldn't be long till there installed - finished photos coming...

    Hey yobear,

I have a similar system as you are thinking of. I agree with the other posts and would incline to go with Rti8’s and get a better sub. I run the PSW505 for now but will be upgrading soon to SVS sub. Just got new receiver Denon AVR 3806 (120W x 7) and my Rti8’s sound sweet.

If you have $$ I would go with the FXi5’s and Rti6’s for your back. Looks like you are going to have a nice rig!!

    Best of luck bro.

The only suggestion that I have (seeing as how you work for circuit city) is that once you get your system set up, go out and demo one of those 3 channel monster amps that you guys sell and let your receiver power the other 4 channels. One of those will turn you good system into a really really great system.

Thanks. Although it’s been more then a year now, I did have an opportunity to demo quite a few different units.(BenQ,Sony,Hitachi) I was dead set on the BenQ PE till I met someone on the AVS board who lived near-by and at that time wanted to show off his Panny. My Wife and I visited and were both amazed at the quality for both Movies and HDTV. All I can say is, you wont be disappointed with a Panny!! One think I can tell you is your set-up will never be finished, but I guess that’s the fun of it all.

your not foolin'! that amp is bada$$. but way too much money. I wish I could rent\borrow an amp to see just how much better things would sound, I never turned my reciever up past about 60% and the system just flat out rocks.

put DIY Acoustic panel into google.

Basically 2 x 4 frame, about 16-18" of fiberglass insulation smushed into it, and a burlap cover of your color choice - you are there.

Edit - and where is that showcase... :)

I'm really excited about my new Polk speakers.
    Fronts - RTi6
    Centre - CSi3
    Rears - RC80i
    Sub - PSW505

I was looking at the Onkyo TX-SR605 but have since started looking at the TX-SR705 wanting to make sure I will get the best out of my speakers.
The store that sold me the speakers reccomended the Dennon AVR 2307 at $1700AUS. I can get the the 705 for $500AUS cheaper. Would it be worth going for the Dennon?
To make things more confusing, my mate has just purchased a Marantz SR6001 which he is highly reccomending.
