Not what you'd call a "car nut", but I'm only 18, so there's plenty of time to develop that trait. As I posted before, here's my project- http://www.king-nerd.com/dood/truckpicpages/53chev.htm

It might not be started yet. :-) We're moving it to our new property inside the next 2 weeks, so it'll be parked in a garage and being working on slowly for, oh, probably about eternity.

    Nice GTR.

I am also a car nut. I have a 2-year auto tech diploma from college, and I have worked for Mercedes Benz and Acura.

I drive a bone stock Integra LS, I love it. No money to modify the B18 or suspension, in due time maybe. This insurance company would dump me in a second if I touch the car.

Nadams, I know what you mean. This last refit I'm putting my car though has taken 4 years and counting. That's a pretty cool truck to do up, what are your plans.

No, I really don't have any interest in drag racing. Been to race tracks a few times, right now I'm working on some sponsor deals so I will have money to built it up for serious track duty. Unfortunately it's a much more expensive hobby than AV.

With the engine mods it has, I would say low 11's would be in reach with street tires. I have no desire to go faster than that, it would be hard to make it a nice track/street car as well.

    More like a disease :D

Low 11s is pretty impressive, especially on street tires. That's about what I'm shooting for with slicks. My primary goal is to pull the front tires off the ground.

Codey- our plans with the '53 are to restore it, but you never know what it'll end up like. I think we've decided to give rebuilding the straight 6 a shot before going all-out with a V-8 conversion.

Exalted- thanks for the link. I'm a member over at chevytalk.org and they have a pretty good forum, too. I'm making a library of good links to help us along on this project.

Well not quit a car but an Engine. Old Pontiac 428 HO block / rods, pistons, crank, 2 sets of heads, 1 warrior intake... you name it I have it for this engine.

Was going to drop this in an 81 Grand Prix (as a sleeper). Don't have the car any longer but still have to engine I would have put in to it.

Own a 68 Grand Prix and a 69 Grand Prix, now own no GM product.

Well, I'm totally into cars; all of it. I have 5 3inch notebooks full of Road & Track, Motor Trend, and Car and Driver, and then quite a few just lying around. I've recently subscribed to Popular Hot Rodding, and am currently planning on redoin' a 1st or 2nd gen Camaro/Firebird/TransAm.....in about 20 years! lol I'm just 16 now (well, I'll be 17 tomorrow :D ), so I can't say as I've done anything or plan to real soon. I can't imagine anything could be be more fun 'an buyin' the old Ford Fairlane 500 down the street and runnin' it hard 'til it quits and then rebuilding the engine. Man, that would be heaven.....:D

    one day....

    Codey,
Is that an 80's/early 90's Firebird? What exaclty IS that engine?! And what all have you done to it?
Only 11?! On slicks?! With all that pokin' through the hood?!......you only got one gear?!?! lol

    Sami,
Sweet Nissan Skyline. Twin turbo? That WOULD be awesome...if only I could get used to driving with the steering wheel on the left. How long did that take to adjust to?

    disneyjoe7
NICE engine!! What are you gonna put it in? Would ya like to give it away???:D :p Nice Grand Prix's, too; got any pic of them?

My friend at church just bought a 1955 Chevrolet Belair 2-door hardtop. It's all original body with NO filler, putty, w/e. Pristine! He's puttin' new chrome bumpers on it and repaintin' it. I can't wait to see this thing when it's done.

My dream project would be like my dad's friend's '68 Camaro. It's black with NO damage to the body work; perfectly straight. He has a 454 block in there with 427 heads, racin' radiator, fuel cell, roll cage, HUMONGOUS rear tires!!!! (like, at least 18"!!!!) Man, that'd be absolutely AWESOME. This guy also has several Camaros. Can't remember wich models were which years, but he has the aforementioned '68, and then an RS convertible and another (I think) RS. (Man, my memory's gettin' bad...). Then, he has a red '63(?) Corvette. And a '94 Vette. and somethin' else, but, man I must be tired; I have no clue. It's all nice, though.

Alright, I've done enough droolin' and dreamin' for one night......maybe....

Then you know what I'm talking about when I has it's not a hobbie, it's a disease.

    It's an '84 Trans Am, and I say 11s (low 11s) because I'm realistic.
I could sit here all night and tell you what I've done so I'll give you the short version. A 350 bored 60 over, forged pistons, 9 to 1 comp. Sportsman II heads (ported with lots of chamber work), Comp Nitrous HP cam, B&M 144 powercharger, and the bolt ons you see in the pictures. The chassis has been thoroughly gone through but the highlights are an 8 point cage, moroso trick springs 70/30 drag struts, 3 way adjustable shocks, airbags(racing kind). And I have three gears not one, via TH350 with trans go shift kit and 2600 stall.

It takes an awful lot of power (and wallet) to get into the 10s. And thats the easy part, then you have to get it to the ground. So if I go to the track next season and get an 11.2 and a wheelie photo I'll be very satisfied.

Sounds like an awesome ride Codey; didn't at all mean to diss it. Seems you've put a lot into it. Hope you can reach those low 11s!!

What's the red-line on a monster like that? Also, do you have an idea of the horsepower/torgue that engine can make?

    Thanks.

Oh I didn't take it as a diss. Since Fast and the Furious it seems like everyone thinks if you can't hit a 10 it's not fast. I guess I'm just naturally defensive now.

Because it's got an overdriven blower, I won't need to rev past 6000 rpm. I've heard this blower runs out of steam around 480hp, but I should make 500 ft-lbs of torque. When it's done I'm going to a chassis dyno so those numbers will be lower, I'll just have to wait and see how much.

    Codey,
Hadn't thought about the effect Fast and Furious would have on these things; I've actually never seen it. Anything under 12 is pretty amazing, but the constantly decreasing times for production cars is making it harder to keep a sizable gap there between 'Vettes & gearheads' stuff.

Yep, twins. All GT-R's from R32 (1989) to R34 RB26DETT (2002) had RB26DETT in them with AWD and AWS. Once you drive RHD, it isn't any different from driving LHD. Some intersections aren't as easy as others but nothing major. On toll booths the ladies usually walk to the other side of the car to collect the money. If I used them more I would get a toll tag. A lot of people mention drive thru, I don't poison myself with junk food so that's not a problem for me. I do occasionally hit the wipers on my LHD Audi after driving the GT-R, trying to get to turn signal. No such problem with the GT-R as wipers are controlled by a knob, not a whisker.

I'll be impress @ high 12's if that thing hooked up. (Burning tires aren’t helping) Anything faster isn't streetable / driveable, or you're looking for 91 octane + some aircraft fuel.

My car was high 12s car in stock form and it felt soooo slow. It's still perfectly streetable in 11s trim although most people would grind their teeth with that aftermarket clutch. Of course your typical teenager would kill himself with it in no time.

Ok, what stock car was that? And yes most Teenager would kill themself and others. By all rights I shouldn't have made it to 20 with some of the things I done, if I have 9 lives I have just 1 left.
