Im wondering if any of you have done your own magnetic shielding on your speakers?

If so what did you use and what were the results?

I found this stuff but not sure if it will work or if its safe for my speakers:

I've done it. Just cleaned up the back of the speaker and the magnet with some alcohol. Then I attached the bucking mag. with some 5 minute epoxy from the local Hobby Town. Works good.

Bucking magnets are what speaker companies use, they are cheap and easy to install using 5 minute epoxy. Don't forget to do the tweeters.

What size did you use for the 6" and tweeters?

"As a general rule, the bucking magnet should be approximately 1/2 to 2/3 the size of the driver magnet."

I got mine from Polk. If your doing the LS90's call Ken and tell him what you need and he'll set you up.

Why would speaker manufacturers not do this from the factory? The bucking magnets are so cheap, it would add only a negligable amount of money to the final price.... does this effect the performance of the speaker at all?
    Ludicrous gibs!

These days a lot of them do, especially speakers aimed at HT use. The bucking magnets do change the Q of the driver, but not that you would notice.

    Uhhhh.....

    eww?

Hey, I know all about stereo.... do you see any HT in my showcase? :-)

However, my monitor 10's do weird things to my CRT monitor in my room, depending on how close it is. But I'm not going to go the bucking route anyway, just curious...
