O'Shag - I have heard them, as I have been into KEF since the very early 80's. You should be called a KEFie instead of a Polkie :)
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Ah, I still love my Polks. But your right, I do love the KEFs. I've never heard the Polk SDA flagships. and you have them. Can you describe their sonic qualities? They certainly look impressive from the few pictures I've seen of them.

O - I certainly have no flagship SDA, just a couple minor SDA's. I think they sound ethereal, and really show what a speaker is capable of.

The soundstage is unequaled to date for me, as it is large and obvious. I like being able to sit in a few spots, not just one, and enjoy my media to a head turning level.

There are some that call it un-natural, or a "coerced" sound, but really, if you like it you like it....if you don't, go somewhere else, who cares. This hobby is way too extensive to limit yourself, and it's why I like to hear as much as possible. An individual should experience as much as possible, otherwise your just a "flavor of the month" shopper.

You, without a doubt know what I mean, as KEF is not often on the endless lists of verbage from most people. KEF is an underrated manufacturer in the masses.

Have I listened to, or owned speakers that come close? Sure, it's easy, if you know what to look for :) Some speakers just have an energy that has not been recreated in modern gear. Vintage gear is also underrated. I own a pair of DQ-10 and Mission Argonauts, and they are easily my next favorite speakers.

I will always carry a pair of SDA's in the lodge, 1C's or not, because the feeling I get from them as a listener has not be equaled very often. They are a staple of audio for me.

    SDA's are wireless headphones.

    Doro,

Amen to that! I pulled out some old vinyl this morning (Bonnie Raitt - Sweet Forgiveness) to audition on the newly acquired Monitor 11's. Sounded pretty nice. Played it again with the SDA-2's in the rig and tried to go get a cup of coffee two rooms away. It sounded so fantastic clear in the kitchen (at very modest volume I might add) that I kept walking back in the living room and just smiling and shaking my head. Amazing soundstage! Superlatives fail me when it comes to the SDA's. There will be a lot of things go out the door (maybe even me, feet first) before the SDA's.

    O'Shag,

    Here's a link to Harmonic Tech, http://www.harmonictech.com/harmonic_products_interconnects.asp

Actually, the Harmonic Tech's have the known synergy with ARC gear. I'd have to believe the MIT's would also because we both run hybrid gear and they work great with mine.

Mike, that's known as the "SDA grin!" :D
