HiFonics are excellent for the money. Generally acaraudio.com has good prices on them. Then go to sounddomain.com and have them price match acar to get the full factory warranty. Sounddomain has excellent customer service from what I hear, and they're willing to pricematch, or at least come down a ton on their price even if the competitor isn't an authorized dealer. I got about $150 off my HiFonics amp through sounddomain by having them pricematch.

Crossfire makes some awesome amps with mucho clean power. They list in the $300-700 range but I got mine for $250 & $200 from an authorized shop!

MTX is also very underrated. They dont carry the prestige as Xtant or Orion but Id take one to a competition anyday. Very powerful and bulletprood construction.

Cosutic is also very good for the money. Theyve been around forever and Ive owned a few and they worked flawlessly.

i second the HiFonics, ikesound also has them for very low prices
i dunno if onlinecarstereo has them or not, but they generally have very low prices and while they are not authorized, they are very pleasant to deal with...ive ordered more than once from them without a problem
thezeb will also pricematch sometimes, although it is not 100% sure that they will pricematch or even drop the price, it is worth a try
and i would MUCH rather order from sounddomain than thezeb
thezeb sucks ****...id never order from them again unless they had redicuously cheaper prices

Alpine V Power series are very good and cheap. However they arent very powerful.

The Alpine V12 series is AWESOME! These are some of my favorite amps. However I think they are a tad overpriced.

Xtant are my favorite amps. They simply rule although theyre VERY pricey! ($500-1000)

Orion, Kicker and JL Audio are also awesome amps but cost a little more.

Sony is OK if you just want sound for your wifes car or something but I would use them for anything I took pride in.

Excellent choice on the W7. You have the best sub on the market! And just to be nitpicky, it 13.5 inches.

As far as amps, it depends on what you want to spend. You could get the $1000 Xtant X1001 or the $500 MTX Thunder801D. I wouldnt use anything less than 800 watts tho, this thing can handle a ton and if you dont power it properly you wont be getting all the goodness it has to offer.

If your budget is under $500 and you want to buy from an authorized dealer then the MTX Thunder801D would be my pick. Its rated at 800x1 but I guarantee you it puts out at least 900.

If you want to buy from an unauthorized sourse then I suggest this MTX Thunder 1501D for $430. This thing is a monster and will put out more than enough to push the W7 to its lim
    its!

Dont pay too much attention to what Cody is saying. Apparantly someone from JL molested Cody as a child so now he hates JL and claims everything from them sucks contrary to about a zillion other people.

Trust me, the W7 is the top 1% of subs.

But dont take my word for it. Go to the Carsound.com forums and ask how good the W7 is. Most of the guys on there are IASCA judges, champion competitors, magazine editors and manufactuer tech guys. See how many of them think W7's suck.

I have never said the W7 is the best value. Neither are a lot of other subs that cost $700-800 from Focal, Diamond Audio and Orion. Neither are the $5000 Rainbow speakers or the $1000 Focal tweeters. All of these are too expensive. So are Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Bentleys. None of these are great values. They are however awesome performers and the W7 is one of the best subs you can buy. But if you dont want to spend $700 on the W7 then get the W6 for $350'ish. It also is also one of the best subs on the market.

If youre going to base your equipment on bang for buck then you should stick to Profile amps and Polk DB speakers and stay away from gear by Diamond, DLS and such. Those are all way too expensive and therfore must suck.

    no no no
    your reasoning is all wrong
if you get what you pay for it is not overpriced
most diamond, focal, DLS stuff is expensive, but not overpriced
ferraris are expensive, but you still pretty much get what you pay for, a luxury call that would kick almost all other stock car's asses...
just because a speaker or anything for that matter is expensive, does not mean its overpriced
the w7 is overpriced, you can get the same performance for half the price

    Not exactly.

The Brahma is comparable but then theyre sold out of the owners basement so there aint a whole lot of overhead going into that pricing (plus what does it matter if its half the price if they never send it to ya ;)). You get one from Mr. JL himself and I bet ya itll cost around the same as a Brahma.

Other than that and maybe an RE, youre back into the $700 range with Orion and Focal again.

The W7 is about the best sub on the market and it costs the same as most of the top .1%.

Ive posted a price list of all the top end subs more than once on here. They are all around $700, the same as the W7. I dont understand why you keep thrashing the W7 as tho its the only $700 sub out there when in fact its one of about a dozen different models, and its outperforms most of them!

I agree with Cody here pretty much on the JL Issue. Long time ago JL was a trend setter...now they pretty much do that with pricing!. JL amps are sweet...designed by old PPI engineers...they gotta be good. If your happy with the sub...that's really the bottom line. I mean....some folks actually drive Honda's!....but thats' another story:D
