Around here, the local cops aren't allowed to use radar (only the staties can). So they sit where they can "see" the two lines and they clock you. The only way they can use radar is if they set up a stationary speed trap. Anyway, I've seen them sit places where there is NO WAY they can see both lines on the road.
Guess radar isn't foolproof, though. A buddy of mine got pulled over by some cocky young state cop who said he had clocked him at 85mph. At the time, my buddy was driving a full size Ford Econoline conversion van that, quite honestly, was not CAPABLE of 85, and I believe him when he says he was doing 65. He contacted the state police and they threw the charge outLudicrous gibs! -
I know, I know, I know.... my 2000 Ninja ZX12-R is only the #2 fastest bike ever produced. Sigh. The Suzuki 1300 goes like 2MPH faster. Oh well. Mine performs quite a bit better when the road curves.
There is no way in hell the bike was doing 205. I'm sure it was probably close to stock and not going anywhere over 185. Hmmm. That could probably be his defense. No YOUR HONOR, I WAS NOT GOING 205. My bike is computer-chip limited to 184MPH. Therefore, lets throw this case out.
Dumb **** sky-cop.
My 600cc Honda will do 160 pretty easy. Modern sportbikes are amazing. -

I'm not exactly pissed about the bogus method the cop used, I'm pissed that he made such a HUGE error in his calculation. I'm further pissed that the stupid newspaper published the story about an effin' idiot riding way too fast, then being caught by a cop dumb enough to issue a ticket for 205 MPH.
This whole story is just another example of sportbikes getting a bad name. I for one am a trained, skilled sportbike rider, who has never ridden a wheelie, or gone much over 80 MPH on a public freeway. I am pissed because crap like this gives me and all other mature, safe sportbike riders a bad name.Bob Mayo, on the keyboards. Bob Mayo. -
maybe he can tell the judge that his bike cant possibly go that fast and that if he doesnt beleive him he'll let the judge borrow it and try for himself...

I got pulled over once on a sport-bike simply for doing the speedlimit at 3am in the morning (going home from the GF's house). Talk about "profiling". Jeesh.
He claimed I was weaving. Yeah right. Just an excuse to see if I was coming home from the bars. Not. I had just got laid and woke up with the OMG - I've got to get out of here syndrome.
Anyway, he reported the stop as "fatigued driver". I am telling you that it is damn near impossible to be a fatigued driver on a motorcycle. Way too much fun for that.
Yes, I hate getting a bum reputation simply for riding the best vehicle in the world. I did see some squids doing wheelies on the HWY at 90MPH+ the other day. Scared the **** out of me just following them in an SUV. They pulled about a 45 degree angle and maintained it for a good 10 seconds. -
what about the turbine driven moter cycle?

Well Im a motorcycle nut myself, and hve been for almost 30 years, and even though I grew up on the Kawy's of yesteryear and loved every one of em,I now ride a modern day sport/sport touring bike.I'm not a supporter of putting inacent folks in danger, and thats exactly what this fellow did..(typical Honda rider:D )!But once in a while I'll open up my 1200 Kawasaki and let her breath a bit, when nobody's around, and I have to tell ya...what a rush, its so easy for these bikes to reach speeds of 170mph just off the show room floor, but theres a time and place for it,not down an interstate either!

Cool vids. Only owned one bike in my life, a Yamaha RZ350. Two-stroke. Loads of fun.
