Just watched it a few minutes ago and came here to post my thoughts on it. Awesome movie!!! I'd give it a 9 out of 10.

The movie is true to its title. It starts kinda slow, but once the **** hits the fan, everyone gets a little poo on them. The main character is downright ruthless when he gets pissed off. Very well written. Of course, Denzel's acting is fantastic, so is the little girl's. There were even a few comedic elements in there, too. It had nearly all of the ingredients that make a great movie.

BTW, it's in DTS, although it's not the greatest DTS soundtrack in the world.

I bought it last night. Looks good and it had Walken in it. That was the selling point. :) Is he in it a lot? I'll have to watch it Sunday.

    Great movie, but.....

I could do without the jerky camera movement. It drives me nuts when film makers do that. It doesn't add to the movie IMHO. Quite the opposite for me.

My favotite line from the movie has to be "He's about to paint his Masterpiece."

I, too, enjoyed it thoroughly. Christopher Walken, Denzel Washington, and Dakota Fanning are all superb in the movie. The main character has some questionable ethics, but so do every else in this movie I guess.

This is pretty bad, I purchased this movie when it came out on Sept. 14 and just got around to watching it just this past weekend. Old news, but damn good movie I thought, 9 out of 10 in my book.

The movie is OK, good but not great. The ending is a little too weak for me. One life for one life...fair trade, but Denzel has 2 to trade, what happens to the guy's wife, he can also trade that for his life in addition to the guy's brother to trade for the girl. Man doesn't just walk with the bullet in or near the heart then later die in the enenmy's limo...I don't buy that...very predictable ending...

Denzel's performance is very good...in this one...

    Cheers:)

One thing I didn't like was the fact that Denzel wasn't wearing body armor when he went on his final rampage. Considering that he had taken a few bullets to the chest/upper body during the ambush/kidnapping and that he still wasnt fully recovered, I would have thought body armor would have been high on his list when he went shopping for ordnance. Maybe he had a death wish.

or something deeper... the whole point of the last sequence in the movie was that the little girl taught him a valuable life lesson, that he could forgive himself for his past. he was ready to move on, he knew that if he didn't die of natural causes (more correctly all the wounds he had) he would have been killed by the kidnappers.

The last sequence is more about symbolism & Denzels characters internal struggles, not just more killing.

.... I'd rather watch a fat, pimply assed transvestite hooker change her tampon,
than sit though this highly incredulous, exploding **** fest again.
The plot is as riddled with holes, as is Denzel.
You have to be a very deep thinker to overlook all of the implausibility,
and focus on the symbolism, which is so over played.

Come on, do they really expect us to believe these murderous, kidnapping **** are men of their word?
And that they will live up to their end of the trade?
What is to stop the two cars full of armed thugs from simply running the mother off the road and rekidnapping them both?

And Denzel is just going to walk over there and lay down and die?
    Gimmie a break.

Now if he had watched the exchange from the bridge and barricaded it with his car and after the exchange, stood guard to make sure they got away safe, and if necessary fight 'til the last drop of his seemingly endless supply of blood dripped out of his body.
Yeah Ok I might buy the ending,
but there was so much more that was simply "not likely"

    On the positive:
I did dig the incredible sub action the tree let out near the end.
Never heard a tree do that before.

    Hey Tru --

Don't be so darn analytical. It's a movie -- you know, "suspension of disbelief." Have you ever seen a plausible action movie?

Most movies falter in the face of logic, and rightfully so. Otherwise, they'd be kinda ordinary and boring -- like the lives of most of the people who watch them.

I liked it. It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, but iut wasn't too bad.

Luc, if I took that approach, I could shoot down almost every movie I've ever seen. But that's your opinion and you're entitled to it...

I enjoyed it. I've actually become a Denzel fan over the last few years, or I suppose since Training Day. While watching Training Day it occurred to me that he's a very good performer, not just a guy that chicks dig.

Furthermore, and as an unexpected bonus, I now look very much forward to Dakota Fanning's entry into puberty and her eventual womanhood. And I don't want to hear anything about this either, because I know that half of you are thinking the same thing ... and the other half are already hot for her. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves.
