For those thay may not be able to pick it up at Walmart or BB etc... I got mine at CompUSA for $39.99 and they had quite a few left (all were widescreen as I recall). It is not your normal DVD outlet so you may be able to find more there and at a good price too.

I just finished watching ANH and have to say that I had no problem with the rear surrounds at all.

    Viva la 2 channel!

Watched ANH last night. WOW!!!!! Picture quality and sound were great. There were some really good bass rumbles in there too. I never realized the "Vader force choke" had so much bass. I have watched these hundreds of times on VHS (when I didn't have cable for a year and a half, I watched the trilogy over and over), so I was drooling over the PQ of the dvd release.

Hats off to the guys who cleaned up the old film and made the transfer. I can't wait to watch the other two.

I Watched The Empire Strikes Back last night and it seemed to be a little better as far as SQ goes, but the PQ is just about equal to A New Hope. They did a damn good job to me! I am about to close on my first home, so it will be a few days or weeks before I watch The Return of The Jedi. It gets better and better each time I watch these films. It will be the first movie that will get played in the new HT room once I set up the Onkyo and Polks.
    Main Set-up: 55" 120 hz Samsung LN55B650, Onkyo TX-SR806, Emotiva XPA-5, Emotiva XPA-2, PS3 Slim, Sony BDP-S560, Apple TV (160g), Panamax M5300-PM, Polk Audio CSi5, RTi10's, FXi3's, RTi4's, and SVS PB12 Plus

    Bedroom: Panasonic 50" S2 Plasma and Panasonic BD65 blu-ray player, Onkyo TX-SR707, Emotiva XPA-3, Emotiva UPA-2, KEF IQ7's, IQc, IQ8Ds, and SVS PB10-ISD

The Golden bikini never looked so good! I watched both TESB and ROTJ last night. Damn Impressive!

I may exchange my set though, in ANH within the first hour I had several quick little skip scenes as if a few frames from the film were missing. Not sure if it's the dvd or intentional.

To Demiurge and everyone else regarding the SW DVD's and their associated enhancements/changes, or whatever you want to call them...

In my earlier post I stated how much I hated these movies in the first place, but that isn't my point here. My other post regarding the aforementiond changes simply had to do with Lucas et al. not being able to easily and cost-effectively please everyone on the final DVD product. Some viewers want the flicks untouched and in their original form but perhaps "upgraded" in terms of A/V quality, nothing more. Others prefer the latest enhancements/changes, and perhaps still others may prefer something in between the two. That's all I was saying.

I think it would have been really slick of the studio to release the films with some form of seamless branching that would allow you to simply pick which "version(s)" you would like to see without it being cost-prohibitive.

The funny thing in all these **** threads I've come across, you'll be hard pressed to find these "purists" bitching about the inclusion of the newly developed 5.1 track for this release. Makes no sense, lets **** about added footage but not the new soundtrack.

I love wht George Lucas said about it's his movies....

He is right, they are his movies and to many people have 2 many opnions abot "how he should do what he does". It's funny 2 as WE didn't Write StatWars he did. Thats his Mother ****.

I don't understand why people can't except that. There is no bigger fan of Star Wars then me. I'ts been apart of my life since I was 7.

I'm so happy to own them on DVD. I love it. I ran some scenes but I plan on doing the Marathon this weekend. SO far I see great video quality and awesome sound quality.

Really? You might want to go look at the credits again. Lucas only supervised some of the writing. He gave a story arc to other writers and they filled in all the details and intricacies. THe only one he wrote mostly by himself was ANH. Empire was Kasden and Bracket and ROTJ was Kasden (Who also did a lot of the work on Indiana Jones).

Just busting on you Dan, I get your point... ;)
There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

It's too bad Dan didn't read the thread before he opened his big yap up.

I think everyone has already said we respect his RIGHT as an ARTIST to do whatever he wants. DOESN'T mean we need to agree. Big difference....so STOP telling everyone their **** for not agreeing with Lucas' changes.

Oh...and there is no bigger star wars fan than you...right, pal. I was waiting how long it would take for some asshat to bring that childish argument into the mix. Nobody has ever alluded to having a 'deeper understanding' or 'closer connection' to the movies than another. Star Wars has fans of every stripe. Some people are dissapointed. Get over it then. Move on. This thread would be dead in that respect if some of you could stop essentially calling people a-holes for not agreeing.

Can't believe how thick headed some people are.

Has anyone watched the Ep.III sneak peek yet? That answered the one question about that film I had. Will we see Vader in the black suite.

I'm about 1/2 through the extras, very well done so far.

Ron, I had the same problem with your copy of ANH, wonder if it happens to all?
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

    Hotwheelman, that really sucks:mad:
Maybe you can slip and buy it and keep the one for Christmas as a collector's item. Just keep it hid!
These films got better chronologically. The newest film sounded beter. ROTJ best, ESB 2nd, and ANH last. I enjoyed all three, and will be looking at them again for years to come.

Well I thought it was great. ANH was well done, but TESB is where it is at. Very few scenes were messed with. In fact he added a few scenes, but they were so short it was not noticable, and it actually made the movie flow a little better.

Alst night we were watching it and I was thinking the whole entire time why couldn't the new films be this good. It is so night and day between the two. Way to much CGI in the newer ones, and the dialogue between the two trilogies is no comparison. You feel the love/hate in the old series, while the new ones you might as well see cardboard cutout's of the characters.
