The new Denon 3910 DVD Player looks pretty solid. It has the same Faroudja FLI-2310 DCDi chip exist in Denon 5900.
What I really like about it, it has the HDMI output and it upconverts DVDs to 1080i. It also does the AL 24 processing for CDs.
Looks solid and price is right for a player like that. SRP $1,299. Love it!

Nice feature set! They sure pack alot into their decks.
Denon has been going back and forth between the Faroudja and SI deinterlacers for awhile now. Both are solid performers, but I like how the Faroudja looks when using Front projection setups. When you blow up the picture to 8-10 foot wide, the picture quality has got to be there.
The only drawback I see is sinking >$1K into a DVD player when HD DVD is around the corner.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

Yup! I'm also waiting for HD DVD. In the meantime I love using my trusty 5 year old Toshiba SD-3109.

HDMI on it as well..awesoome.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
We literally got it on our shelf this morning at my work and all I'm going to say is *DROOOOOOOOOL*. This is beyond amazing. It looks like a mini receiver, it's so damn big. To bad it weighs more than most receivers these day. It actually is adjustable on the video output, 480p/576p or 720p or 1080i. Your choice. You can tell how incredible the player is built just by how well the dvd tray slides out. It's silky smooth. Let me list the points that I love about it...
1. HDMI & DVI-D outputs with upconversion capabilities (without being some cheap **** Zenith or Samsung that dirties up the picture).
2. Denon Link. One cable to do multi channel DVD Audio/Video and they're working on getting SACD to work (DAMN YOU SONY!!!)
3. Micro felt lined disk tray to help keep your disks clean and scratch free. Nice touch!
4. Removable power cord for any of you techies out there that want to upgrade.
5. Silky smooth disk transport with metal reinforcement. Quality built.
6. Weighs at least 40lbs or more...thing is a beast.
7. Is an old DVD 5900 ($3300 retail) in a different chassis, but with the newest silicon image processing chip.
8. IT'S ONLY $1249! I know that's a lot of money but for what you're getting, it's amazing!
9. Blue light that lights up the logo if you're playing an SACD or a DVD/A. Sex appeal!Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.
Home Setup: Sony VPL-VW85 Projo, 92" Stewart Firehawk, Pioneer Elite SC-65, PS3, RTi12 fronts, CSi5, FXi6 rears, RTi6 surround backs, RTi4 height, MFW-15 Subwoofer.
Car Setup: OEM Radio, RF 360.2v2, Polk SR6500 quad amped off 4 Xtant 1.1 100w mono amps, Xtant 6.1 to run an eD 13av.2, all Stinger wiring and Raammat deadener. -
Ya, for that price i would also wait for HD DVD. I bought the Denon DVD 2800 ($800) and it has been a solid performer and is built like a tank. Really disapointed in how these hi end players are so stipped with "extras" though. The problem with DVD players is that they are worth a fraction of the value on the market a year later.
Got my modded 3960 from MadMax and it out performs my Denon all around. -
You pu$$y......it only weighs "18.7 pounds"........LOL...:DOriginally posted by Toxis

BTW, I sold one of these today to a guy putting this and a Sony 70" XBR IN HIS BEDROOM! What are people thinking? Oh well, good commission for me, and he's MORE than happy!Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.

HD has from 720 to 1080 lines of resolution compared to today's
DVD that has only 480 lines.
The more lines, the sharper the picture.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable
