If you want a good deal on Monster Cable surge protector/power conditioner, here's one.....
Monster PC1000 for $60.00
I got this unit from the above vendor and I am very happy with it. It's the same unit as the HTS1000 but for a lot less. I figure it's cheap insurance. And here's a thread I started at head-fi.org when I noticed the deal. It's quite long, but it contains my e-mails with a Monster representative on the PC/HTS1000.

thanks Danny

I buy mine on Ebay/black market. You rarely see monster probucts go sale or below retail.
I just purchased a 5100 SS for 30% under retail and 100 ft of 12 gauge XPHP for 20% under retail.
No affiliation - super power seller and best Ebay service yet!!!!!
Monster -
Thanks for the link !!!

Monster discourages their dealers from offering discounts on their products. You can find their better cables and interconnects on eBay and Audiogon for 50% off retail. That's where I got mine.Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country! -

Also, if you buy Monster from eBay or something like that, they will not warranty the cables. Monster has a lifetime warranty on all products and yes, I've had to use it a couple times. Moving and storms seem to be the devil. hahaNever kick a fresh **** on a hot day.

Scottvamp - 30%....why not just say the amount? You received a very nice price on a quality unit, stop sounding embarassed about it I think the MC surge units are very nice and I sleep well knowing mine is hooked up.
Do you think I paid retail for my HTS-5100 ages ago? LOL Polkies stick together

Its cool - don't understand the embarassed part though. Prices don't mean shat covering a large range of products like Monster has - percent of retail gives a clearer picture.FYI - XPHP is 14 awg, not 12.
Could be - I was just going off of the salesmen on Ebay had on the auction. The web site doesn't say but 14 is probably right comparing it with my others.
I also just realized I paid more for my wire because it was "in wall" rated which I did not need. I did not know thier was a price difference.
Still, this is the only HP XP on ebay. -
Monsters scare me.

it's 60% in the U.S. but it doesn't seem like people think that's a good deal. -
I wish some of these people with huge discounts on simple products like Monster would pass it along to fellow Polkster's.
I just spent $750 on Monster products in the last week.....:( -
If I worked where I could get a discount I would offer it to some peeps for sure
50% is better than paying the asking price !!! -

As mentioned I would offer to SOME peeps not everyone asking.. if the are going to fire me because I by products once in a while then I'm better off not working for that company. Now I wouldn't offer the deal to every one who asks.

Ya, i am not talking about opening a bussiness. I have bought 5 optic cables in the last year or more. Big deal!!!
I know guys that work at video stores with 40% discount and have bought tons of DVD's and CD's over the last year.
I was talking more along the lines of people with electronic dealers license. Like the sellers on Ebay - i'm pretty sure they don't work at BB or CC. -
Willow,
Good luck getting Monster cables on sale at BB or FS in Canada. Monster has VERY TIGHT controls on pricing in these stores. As an example, I just picked up some speaker wire yesterday at the local FS. I used to be a manager there and know all the guys fairly well. I grabbed some speaker wire off the shelf and found me a sales guy. I politely asked if I could get a deal as I know how much mark-up there is in speaker wire. They called the manager over, and he said "As log as it's not monster, no problem, I'm not allowed to discount monster or they will pull it from the chain." He then promptly sold me some AR speaker wire 2 for 1, so it's not like he didn't want to help me out.
BTW, at 2 for 1 the AR wire still had 39.3% Gross Margin in it. But there's no profit in wiring, right?"Sure, everything looks bad if you remember it!" -
thanks for the tips regarding th AR cables all my IC are AR so next one I buy Ill ask for a deal...
sometimes it seems like shall I dare say it... Monster and Bose share the same views regarding price regulation. Instead of buying a monster power bar I bought belkin surge protector w a 70dbs filter ( I needed one that had more plugs) I noticed a much cleaner picture on TV no notice in the sound though...I couldn't see how a power filter would help in soundstaging....any how the bar was on sale 50%off sweet deal I used my old one for my wanna-be 2ch in the bedroom. -
On the higher end Monster Power units they have dedicated outlets for audio as well as video. The power bars that Monster makes are more in the lines of standard surge protection.
Unlike Bose, Monster makes quality products...... -
I want to tell you something funny guys, I work at BB Canada, once I was playing with the AC noise tester which we keep for our customers to demonstrate the difference between regular $6 cheap walmart bars compare to Monster Powerbars. I hooked up the AC noise tester to the regular bar and I heard a radio out of the tester!!! No kidding! Oh my God! and then I plug the tester into Monster bar to see if any sound comes out of it and it was clean no sound at all. Amazing!
Wow huge difference, love the monster products. Also it wasn't an expensive bar either. The $49.99 one.
I have a Monster Powerbar 2100 for my HT. Love it!
I'm pretty sure nobody wants to listen radio when watching a movie!

interesting... I always wondered if that was a set up or if it actually worked.
how many dbs does the stage 1 and stage 2 filter out ?? -
Stage 2 is the same as stage 1 except they seperate the Audio from the Video connections so there's no cross talk. Stage three even pulls the Digital equipment away from the Audio and the Video outputs. Less crosstalk = very good.Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.

Im a Authorized Monster Dealer & Yes Monster dosnt want producst advertised below MAP pricing. I dont understand how some companies can sell moster products for 50% off retail! Dealer pricing is much more than that, if I sold at 50% off Id loose lots of money & probably my business! Like previous posts I do offer Fellow Polkster's better pricing on Monster products. If your a Club Polk member & are looking or a monster product e-mail me with the item & where it will be shipped to, ill offer the best prices I can. If your in a rush I may not be able to help. We dont stock everything so it may take up to 1-2 weeks for delevery. I have helped other polk members with thier purchases with no problems. All monster products come with a full Monster warranty! I may not be the cheepest compared to the black market sellers, but I gurantee you get "A" grade & "brand new" with a full warranty!

I have dealt with Ace, EZC, personally(HTS-5100) and he is 100% squared away. No worries on transactions with his business.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Doro,
Thanks for the post! Ive been busy & have not been able to spend much time here in the forum! I picked up a few more lines for the store & have been doing more installs! -
good to see peeps trying to help out fellow polkies

why are Monster products so expensive?
this is gonna hurt... but is Monster the "Bose" if you will of their products?
You're paying for the name, their products are not any better really than other similar products.. they just cost 30% more?
(Let the pouncing commence) :eek:PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Monster has very good marketing! I also feel the lower end products do cost slightly more than similar products. But in the mid & upper end the products are very comparative or even better than other products. The AVS 2000 retails for $1499 compared to equatech, Furman & other similar products they are the lowest priced. Monster M1000 interconnect 1 meter is $200 a pair compared to other manufactures at about the same preformance level the M1000ic are not expensive. I have purchased Kimber Silver Streek In 1m for $220. Same level of cable very close in pricing. But if you take the low end monsters line ex: datalink 100 dig cable 1m $39.00 (this cable is sold in most of the big box stores), but look at the M1000d 1m for $55. For just $16 more you get a much better cable. I feel monster has built a good name reco. with customers & that what they sell thier name! I have had customers tell me they purchased monster cable with the gold plated ends. I ask them which model 100,200 etc they say Oh I dont know but they were costly! When I finally go over for the install I find they purchased 200 or 300 versions at full retail & they could have gotten higher quality monster cables for just slightly more. I dont stock lower end Monster but I do stock the Z series & M1000 series & we do sell lots of the better cables. I guess the cost is higher on the lower grade due to the labor to assemble the cables, The cost to terminate lower grade & upper grade is probably the same & the only difference is the materials. So even if the lower grade cable & ends are cheeper the cost in labor, packaging, shipping dosnt change. I still feel monsters upper end products you get a great product for the money spent!
