Hi Doug,
Is the plasma the blue rectangle on the right wall? The main speakers are the elipses on either side of it? The blue rectangles on the left are ceiling mounted side and center surrounds? You're going to have a sofa or sectional in the middle of the room?

Hi Doug,
Well, the first thing that occurs to me regarding your proposed layout is that you shouldn't have your side surrounds and surround back speaker all behind the primary listening area. Such an arrangement would diffuse the surround effect of having sounds pan from front to sides to rear.
If you intend to do a 6.1 configuration, the side surround should be to the sides of the primary listening area and the surround back speaker to the rear.
If you decided to go for a 5.1 configuration you have the option of putting the side surrounds on the sides or in the rear.
If you decide to pursue the Polk performance enclosures on your right wall make sure you don't run into conflicts with your plumbing. I notice that you have a bathroom on the other side of the wall.

Good Morning Larry ,
I agree with the rear speaker placementr for 6.1 / 7.1 arrangement. What do you think about the LC80 as the left/right side (surrond) , since they can give up to 30 degrees offset (point in to listening area) and then use the LC65i for the rear back speakers (7.1 configuration)??
Thanks Bud,

Hi Doug,
I see what you mean about the LCi manual. I'm rather surprised, Polk does a rather poor job of offering any explanation for these diagrams.
It's possible that they're trying to show that the 6.1 surround option can have either one rear centered surround or a pair, but frankly the diagrams are outright misleading.
As I said earlier putting a center surround on the rear wall between the side surrounds would diminish the overall surround effect because in panning sounds they would unrealistically jump from the front to the back and vice versa. There would be no gradual panning of the sound from the front to side to rear.

Hi Doug,
I'm thinking that with a catherdral in-ceiling application you may be better off selecting all your speakers with tweeters that can be pointed at the listening area. I would stick to the LC80is or the LC60is.

Thanks Larry..that's kinda what I thought. Now I need to hear those LC265's and LC80's...then position them in the room.
When I fly down...I'll pick you up and show you the model home.
