Michael Hand my apology. This is your thread and I was out of line by giving you different opinions about what was being said by us.

hey don't beat yourself over the head......it's not a big deal you were trying to help...you provided links...people who read them can form their own opinions of what was said.. which seems to be a big part of the AV world, one man's junk is another man's treasure !!

My point is always, if you've never experimented with cables, give it shot. If you come back saying there's no difference for better or worse, that's cool by me.

From my experience, cables do make a difference. Some cables more than others. The trouble comes in finding cables that work best in your system.

Hey D, do you think there would be a problem if I was to run the kimbers through my speaker stands which a filled with sand ??

takes a while to finish those darn ends properly then twist them while cleaning them with alcohol and now into nanner plugs...the centre is done perfectly was going to finish them with heat shrink...not sure yet.

Willow - I'm not D, but it may even be helpful. Eximus actually has "sand filled" interconnects. I think the idea is ridiculous, but neat. I believe in cables, but have to draw the line at a reasonable level.

You could say that you have mechanically dampened speaker cable, with zero resonance :D How cool is that! lol

    I totally agree 110%.

The only problem I see with the sand is it getting into the braiding if you ever take them out of the stands.

I was asking casue the wire management is through my speaker stand's post which is sand filled. so this won't at all cause any damage..I know it's a pain to do but my wife doesnt want to see the cables...even if according to her they are cute "braided"

thanks to the both of you

I would like to thank everyone for your replies and debates... Based on the informaton provided this is what I have come up with:

    1. - Cable distances for home theater applications should not matter. To test this myself, when I get my LSi7's I plan to biwire the speakers with one 30' cable and one 10' cable and see if I hear a difference. (I will put the short cable on the bottom terminal (woofer) on one speaker and the top terminal (tweeter) of the other speaker. I will report my findings here as to wheter I can hear a difference or not. (I am not expecting to, but then again, it is not a hard test to try)

    2. - For the LSi series of speakers, an external amp WILL make a difference and the type of speaker wire MAY make a difference. Once I have everything set up and speakers placed the way I want them, I will spend my money on an external amp - once that is done, I will try some different speaker wire on the center channel and see if I notice anything. (thanks for the tip on Kimber Kable) (I listen to mainly movies and the center channel is where I should notice a change, if there is one, for the least cost.)

Thanks again for all your replies. The reason I like to read this forum is for the debates and what if's. If I wanted to just be told what to do as fact (opinion) I would listen to the salesman at the store. :)

Michael - That sounds like a good plan. Definetly get your gear straight before worrying about interconnects.
