movie seat kickers

We've all be subjected to those a**holes who kick the back of your seat while you're trying to watch a movie at your local 200 megaplex movie house.

It happens every time i go see a movie. It's kept me away from going to very many movies the past 5 yrs. I'm finally getting back into going to a movie. I really love seeing movies with the experience of the reaction of the audience... it helps make the movie more fun.

What i don't like is the people who kick your seat every 5 mins. How in the hell can a person kick the back of your seat so much?

I finally wised up just recently to see what i could do to help eliminate this aggrivating problem. What i do now is I sit in the very back row.. it's up against the wall.. and there is no one sitting behing you to kick your seat. :p

The other nice thing about the back row... it usually provide more leg room than all the other seats. :D

I"m starting to enjoy movies again at the theater... the way movies should be enjoyed. On the big screen.

I can't go to the movies. If it's not the annoying cell phones ringing, it's freakin' kids that can't stop talking. I get so frustrated I want to scream, "This movie is rated R, where are your damn parents? How did you get in here!?"

Oh, and last time I thought I had it made, until the only thing I could focus on was the "heavy breather" sitting in the row next to mine. Big guy, couldn't stop breathing out of his nose -- it was louder than the dialog!

Ugh, forget it, if it weren't for the girlfriend, I'd NEVER go to the theater!

How about the bonehead that sits behind you and tells the entire story to his girlfriend, because he has seen the movie already.

I never go to cinemas anymore.

I won't go to the movies anymore, for two reasons:

1 - All the annoying crap that you guys have already mentioned.
2 - I'm just not going to pay to sit through commercials, plain and simple. I can't believe they want to charge you 8 bucks for a movie ticket, and then advertise at you...not gonna do it anymore...

The past couple movies I went to here I sat near the back, but I was slightly annoyed by the projector noise. Seems like the theaters I went to kept the windows open in the back, so during quiet scenes I could very clearly hear the clicking and machine noise from the projector.

Been twice this year, might go once more to see "The Phantom of the Opera" in December.

The screen may be bigger, but the distractions are far worse. I'd rather sit at home, enjoy better audio and picture on a smaller screen with the only distraction is pausing the movie to get another beer.

It's not the size of your screen that makes the movie going experience enjoyable.

Where are you going to see Phantom? I got to see it in it's first year with the London cast, was really cool.

I also saw it earlier this year at the Majestic in NYC. It was really good there also, but you can't replicate Sarah Brightman...the guy playing Phantom stole the show though...

I saw it at The Ahmanson Theatre here in LA with Sara as well. Awesome experience. But, I'm talking about the movie coming in December. ALW's screenplay brought to the silver screen via Joel Schumacher.

    Here's teaser trailer.

    1) F the movies
    2) Buy a big screen TV
    3) the people kicking your seat - well that is just part of the experience of the reaction of the audience;)
4)Seating all the way in the back, probably not the best sound quality if the SQ is good at all.
    5) F the movies.

Same here. I try to stay away from the theaters on the weekends unless I can get there early for the late show.

Go during the week to a late showing. Unless it's early in the summer (before everyone goes on vacation) it's usually only 20-30 people in a theater that seats over 200. Plenty of space, no annoying crap and usually cheaper tickets.

As far as prices go, weekends, the theater down the street from my house charges 7 bucks, weekdays it's usually cheaper, about 6-6.50. The concessions are kind of lacking but every theater is equipped with the latest in theater sound and picture technology. If I am at a friend's house 20 miles away, I will honestly consider making the effort to go to this theater just to see the movie.

I don't know why you all have such troubles with other people in theaters. I can't say I haven't experienced the same kinds of troubles but not nearly enough to make me want to stop going. I just refuse to let some asshat's **** little **** of an offspring ruin my good time. If it takes me standing up and getting in someone's face, I will and have but I'm not going to let some jerk ruin my time and prevent me from being able to have that theater experience.

I'm like Jstas, if someone's being that much of a problem i see to it that it ends....

Great thing about being in college is that our theaters have discounts for students :D

I find though that almost every time i go to the movies, at the end of the commercials and previews i have to stop for a second and think "wait, what am i here to see again?" after a second or two i remember and it's on with the fun :p

im with John...ive never had a bad experience in a theater...not once...if someone would start repeatedly kicking my chair id ask them to stop...if they kept doing it id ask in a little sterner voice...if they kept doing it id sit behind them and kick their chair as hard as i could until a) they move or b) the movie ends.

you guys must live in places where people are very welll behaved. That's not the case here. I like to get to the theater early to get my seats... usually like 15 to 20 minutes early.

I do that so I can plan where i want to sit.
Time after time... as the theater starts to fill up with families of 4 to 5 kids plus their parent... and friends.. and 1. they either sit right in front of me... on purpose.. or 2. they sit right behing me, there again on purpose and kick the seats, talk on the cell phone loud before the movie starts. or like last week... the 20 something couple kept talking about what they liked or didn't like about the movie while it was playing.

Sure I could move. but really. I got there early to get good seats.. i shouldn't have to move. THe theater was about 2/3 full by this time.. the only seats left were on the extreme ends or way up in front.

So like I said in an earlier post.. the last row in back against the wall... keeps seat kickers out of my ****.

Or how about the people who put their feet on the backs of the empty seat next to you from the row behind you.. so their feet are right next to your face.. doesn't that bother anyone? Pisses me off to no end.

Actually, no, I live in NJ, remember? The whole state has an attitude problem! I have experienced all the things you are speaking of and worse. I've had people "wait for me outside the theater" and had a pack of about six 16 year old kids try to start a fist fight with me in the theater, during the movie. One of them grabbed my hair trying to be a tough guy and talking in my ear. I jabbed my thumb in his eye and boxed his ears when he let go of my hair. He fell back into his seat writhing in pain and holding his eye. His buddies all stood up like I was supposed to be afraid of them. Someone called security and I explained what happened. Of course they did too, in thier "own words". Fortunatly, I knew the security guard personally and he knows I don't go causing trouble for no good reason. He kicked them out of the theater and told me to go back to my seat. After the movie, he got me a couple of free passes to make up for the trouble. All that because I told the little **** to stop kicking my date's seat.

I've dealt with the feet thing too. My girlfriend does it and every single time I tell her to put her feet down. She gets mad at me but I don't care. One person did it to me and was actually periodically kicking my head. It happened twice and I told her about it. The third time, I grabbed her toes and twisted her foot until she cried out in pain. Told her "If it happens again, I'm tearing it off!" Her feet never went on top of that seat again.

The people aren't any better behaved, I just don't tolerate the serious BS. Most stuff I let slide because I am usually far enough away from it that it isn't an issue. Then again, arguments, confrontations and fights in crowded movie theaters are not my idea of fun either. I just don't let hooligans walk all over me and go when the crowds aren't so bad anyway. Alot more room, alot more space between people. But the back row is defintly the coolest because of all the reasons you have already mentioned.

ok ok...you had the better idea:D
remember a few years ago when everyone was scared that they would sit on a seat and get infected with the AIDS virus because ppl had implanted them in seats and coke machines...
that would be a good reason not to go to the movies if it was true...

Plus I like the previews a lot too. I like seeing whats coming out.

One time I went to a movie, one of LOTR, and someone actually puked right behind my seat! It smelt so horrible. Especially after being mixed with a cleaning solution, I could not believe it.
