I have raced bikes for over 10 years and coached a professional team for 8 years. No one in the bike community shares your opinion regarding doping and Lance. Do you have ANY data to support your rant? Or do you just want to sound controversial?

It is hard for me to express my opinion of your rant without swearing, but you are a **** idiot.

    Itelligence at it's best. :p

And yes, I do. Is Greg LaMonde still a part of the racing community or was he a famous boxer? ;)

That's it? Thats your DATA????? You have got to be kidding.

Give me a break. How's this for a hypothesis:

LaMonde feels small, since no one really remembers him, so he spouts his mouth off to be a celebrity again?

Maybe Lance was/is doping. But until he either tests positve or some REAL evidence comes up, he deserves the benefit of the doubt. As of right now, it's all been hearsay, from LITTLE people.

Wait...Amazing...now that LaMonde is out of the sport competitively he's a **** joke!??!!? That is a great theory, but he WAS Lance Armstrong before there was a Lance Armstrong.

As far as that being my only bit of data, it's not. I think I gave a lot of other very important points in my initial responses....you know...the ones that were ignored? 8 world class athletes (competition cyclists) dropping dead in a year. The fact that the cycling community has the most horrible testing in competitive sports. The fact that there was already a bust in cycling that almost brought the sport to it's knees (and should have).

Keep calling me a **** idiot though. I'm the only one offering a different opinion on the matter and I'm not praising the guy. I'm so sorry. I'm not trying to convince you of anything, just offering up the rest of the story. The guy doesn't walk on water. I think he's a fraud, you don't. The allegations against him are strong. He is NOT willing to do any testing outside the cycling organization that regulates the Tour de France. I'm not just pulling this out of my ****.

As I said....I'm done. Everytime I read this thread I see another dickheadish response from one of you. I'm done reading and done replying. So don't bother asking more questions...I won't answer them.

Your TEXAS erections are getting annoying. Just relax...not everyone from Texas is a **** straight laced hero!

Greg LeMond's "evidence"...."Lance Armstrong is so good he MUST be doping". No one was more proud of Greg LeMond when he became the first American to win the Tour de France....But he is way out of line here. There is NO evidence that Lance Armstong has achieved his ability through chemicals. There IS evidence that he is obsessed with winning the the Tour de France and will work 2, 3, 4, or 5 times harder than any of the other competetors.....things like starting to train for the next one 2 weeks after he wins (like he has for the past 5 years) while the rest are off recouperating or enjoying the fruits of their success for 3-5 months.

And why should he have any other organization other than the cycling body test him. Thats like saying that NASCAR needs to let FIA test the winning cars to make sure they are legal (because we all know NASCAR has their favorites and protects them!). If Lance satisfies the governing body of cycling then he has NO obligation to do more just to satisfy critics.

I just love it when people want to find the reason for someones success other than because of their will and determination...They know that no one can achive greatness on their own...true superiority can only be achived by cheating. It is their way of elevating themselves to be equal to a great person.....the only way!

I apologize to Demiurge. There is really no reason to express myself like that. Everyone has there opinions, which are unproven judgements.

Yes, cycling has a long history of doping just like weightlifting, track and other sports. People will cheat.

But that doesn't mean all people or Lance are cheating with drugs.

Fact: Lance has failed no drug test.

Yes, he was very arrogant in his youth.

Getting cancer can change people also. He admints these facts in his book.

I think "opinion here" that Lance is the best American athlete we have.

    Two things, well actually three...

First, Demi, calm down man. You brought the negative spin on this thread with the whole cycling is ****, Lance is a fraud, they're all dopers thing...

Two, let's assume all the cyclists are on some drugs or whatever...yeah, it's the case with every sport, so why rag on cycling? It's nto different than anything else.

Three, again we'll assume they're all dopers...what the hell does that have to do with Lance? If I'm a doper and you're a doper, and everyone's a doper, and I win, I'm still better than everyone else...basically doping is a constant if I follow your logic correctly...so who cares...

That is a good point but the thing is usually its a matter of how much you take.

Take bodybuilding for instance. It doesnt really matter how you train but how much youre willing to spend on 'roids and how many youre willing to take.

Juice heads will come into the gym and go thru an entire back workout before I can finish a bench press session. If I trained like them Id weigh 130 lbs! They use moderate weights but dont go to muscle failure, dont use a full range of motion and go at too fast a speed. On top of that they mostly use machines. Yet they weigh 350 with 2% bodyfat and Im 245 with 20%? :(

My 2 cents worth regarding Lance Armstrong...

He was a hero to my wife who finally lost a 9-year struggle with cancer last year. His picture is firmly planted on a wall here in the house and will remain there indefinately. I have never heard anything negative about him or his abilities and accomplishments (other than on this forum) so forgive me if I choose to bury my head in the sand (stick with provable facts guys, not some a-hole's fabrication or conjecture), but he is still an outstanding American and a hero to my family.

    Get a life dudes...

What does the reference you just posted have ANYTHING to do with doping by Lance Armstrong? Guilty by association? The ONLY mention I saw of Lance Armstrong in your reference: "Aug. 2002: The French government completes a two-year investigation of Lance Armstrong and the U.S. Postal Service team, finding no evidence of wrongdoing during the 2000 Tour de France." What does that say to you?

Sure, doping is out there (just wander by the gym I go to), but until you can offer up something relevant to Lance Armstrong, you have said absolutely nothing.

Sorry, you haven't proven a thing. In fact, all you have proven is that you are off-base with your accusations. Try reading and comprehending your own FACTS...

OK, let's try this another way...

If you think sports are all corrupt, that's fine, and you're entitled to that thought. Hell, there's even evidence to support that theory to an extent.

Personally, I don't believe they're all corrupt, but then I don't care if they're all dopers anyway. Watching people run faster and hit harder makes sports more fun to watch...

I'll say this again, if everything is corrupt and everyone is doping, what difference does it make anyway...drugs are at that point a constant...so whoever win at whatever sport is still the best...

I just don't get you coming on this thread and making a statement that you KNOW is going to piss people off...you don't like sports, thats fine...I just don't see the point in putting a negative spin on this thread....

Guys, just a reminder to keep it clean. Debating the issue is fine, but curb the potty mouth please.

Hey now, lets all try not to fight and get along. Remember, Polk doesn't care who started it, lol :p. Yes we all have different opinions on a lot of things and if we want to voice them lets show a little love first, not do it in an angry and aggressive manner.

"ATHENS, Greece - Dede Barry showed the Americans the way to the medal stand Wednesday - and that was just the start of an unprecedented cycling medal haul.

Tyler Hamilton won the men's time trial gold medal and teammate Bobby Julich took the bronze, hours after Barry won the women's time trial silver Wednesday. No other nation in the Olympics won more than two medals in the four road competitions.

"I believe we are one of the best cycling countries in the world, with Lance Armstrong winning the last six Tour de Frances and great results here today," Hamilton said. "It says a lot about U.S. cycling." "

Hmmm...we're either the best in the world or the most doped-but it IS the Olympic Committee doing the testing...
