Del44,
Are you joking, or are your subs even turned on? You should be able to do 105+ dB no problem with dual PW2200.Graham -
Ah, earliest I can crank it out will be wednsday --
But, I will DEFINETELY try it...lol- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
u might as well call svs and order a replacement driver now so it will be there by the time u ruin ur sub
-
Your just mad...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
One thing this thread is missing is the master volume off of reference. Anybody getting close to reference volumes? I don't even want to go there.. LOL..
I remember doing this test a few months ago. I had the master volume at -12 db off of reference. This was one of the loudest scenes I have ever recorded on my sub and if my memory serves me correctly:
1. 110 - 111 db (in a 3,000 FT3 room; I didn't even want to try any louder... pictures were literally hopping on the walls)
2. SVS PB1+
3. 12 feet
4. 80 hz all speakers set to small
5. Transparent The Link sub cable -
you are right i am mad lol. but ur still gonna break something.
in the words of jack sparrow....try not to do anything, stupid -
OK I was joking. Just got done repainting my ht room saturday. So I didn't get a chance to do the Nemo test. It takes awhile to move everything in and out of the room. However, one day when I was goofing around with sub placement, I had them stacked in the corner and had one of my sons bass test cds. I set the spl meter on top of the subs and cranked it up. Got 128 db. It was friggin loud! When I get everything setup I'll give it a try.
-
Airplay,
Dont be a hater! lol
I wont screw it up, heck I have turned it down since I have owned it...
Started off at 12 oclock, and now I am at 11 oclock! hmmmm- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Got 128 db
The RS meter only goes to 126 dB. And unless the meter was placed near the subs, that number is highly questionable. One thing this thread is missing is the master volume off of reference.
The same thing occured to me. All DVDs are mastered at different levels. Underworld is a perfect example of a DVD that simply cannot be played much louder than -12 RL. Other DVDs can easily be played at RL.
The differences in mastering levels is just stupid and there should be an industry standard. It reduces the whole concept of RL to nothing more than a benchmark for users to compare notes.
While I DO calibrate to RL with Avia for this exact reason, I use common sense and the SPL meter to dictate where to set the MV. Being a blind slave to that arbitrary 0.0 on the MV just doesn't make sense with the wildly different DVD mastering levels."What we do in life echoes in eternity"

My bad, Not 128 or even 126 Guess it was only 123. My son reminded me of it. Shoot, when I'm 65 It'll be back up to 130:D Honest grandson I once got the subs playing 150 db.:p
Actually, on the nemo thing. I got about 115 to 116 or so from 9 feet away. -
So, Vr3MxStyler2k3, what did you get? Or was there an 'incident'?
Regards,
PT -

Hi All,
Count me in, how far into the movie is this 'glass' scene, I shouldn't have too much trouble getting past 120db but might have to take some pictures and stuff down as a precaution, funnily enough we had a picture frame come down in the bedroom once, obviosly didnt notice til we went to bed that night and took a few minutes to figure out how it came off the wall, bass, and lots of it, 4 x 10 inch and 4 x 8 inch drivers and not an overly large room by any strecth of the imagination.... -
Brody,
The scene is the very beginning of chapter 25. 120 is very hard to get to. What kind of sub do you have?Graham -
Thanks for that, have to go pick up the mrs from work, will have a go tommorow. Had the SRTs up til recently, made a sub with twin 10s and 1200watts rms of NAD218 powering them, goes down to 10hz and with a PSW 650 in the other corner and two RT2000i in the rear, lots a bass, quite easily more than the 12Odb the SRTs were rated at (and I actually got 126db out of them) so will have no props with the 120 mentioned before, results posted tomorrow.
-
what are you talking about i did 120 with very low thd and the subs were asking for more but when i get around to upgradeing stryke force i will call it strike force (add on the word for 4 as the sufex) 2000 wats and quad av15 i think that will be amazeing hopefully when i design and buld my own house in 2 years looking at. i am eather going with ib or desing the box in to the riser for the seating my gola will be to hit 100 db on the 8 hz bass in black halk down i want more controol and a little more botom end
-
Yeah Ganzo I know, 120 is hard, but not with dual AV15s. My sub can do 120 dB at around 20 Hz too. I think John J is still working on the new AV15s and he will be building them in house this time. 4 AV15s in an IB would be awesome. You would get more than 100 at 8 Hz for sure with that IB.Graham
-
1. 123 dB
2. Polk SRT's
3. 14 feet
4. 64 hz
5. Normal interconnects to external amp to speaker wire to subs
Preamp MV Setting -> -18 -
the olny thing is what to do with my curent 2 av15 sence i will need 4 new ones so they will all match and work well togher. maybe i will put the 2 old ones in my car lol j/k

hahahaha; I'll let that be my excuse for not trying the test,......and the fact that I don't have a sub.
How do y'all think Klipsch's subs would stack up here? Aren't they really loud?George Grand wrote: »

Heres my results.
1. 125 dB (peak)
2. homegrown sub with NAD amp and Polk drivers and PSW650
3. 11 feet
4. LFE plus mains to sub, speakers set to large
5. Straightwire interconects and speaker cable.
To be honest, I expected a bit more and cant help but feel I have heard better tracks to highlight bass, dont get me wrong there is plenty there but it just doesn't seem as low freq to me as some others. Any one else with lower capabilities share my thoughts or am I on my own????
Any one tried 'saving private ryan' when they storm the beach in chapter 2? (DTS) got the stuff you can only feel........hmmm.....dribling...... on....... keyboard......
-
how can you all be hitting such high volumes?????
are you turning off all speakers except your sub?
i can't imagine how loud that would be.. at 120+dbs you all are claiming. i'd crap my pants.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
Vancouver, Canada Sept 30th, 2012 - Madonna concert  -
The scene doesn't feel that low, but it can still shake the room.
Danger, I felt like I would crap my pants at 105 dB which would be my usual peak setting.Graham
