I think the original question was what would your system be if price weren't a factor.

I, like many others so far, an fully content with my system and won't be changing it anytime soon. However, to say that I wouldn't upgrade it if money was not an issue is simply ludicrous...of course I would upgrade and those upgrades honestly would not include Polk. Polk makes great stuff (hence I own nothing but Polk currently), but it can't compete with some brands when you throw money out as an obstacle.

Getting back to answering the question, here's what I would get:

    Speakers

I'd either go with the B&W 801s or the References series by Snell Accoustics. I'm leaning a bit towards the Snells just becuase I've had more time with them. But I have listened to the 801s briefly and fell in love with those as well.

    Amp & Pre-Amp

I have listened to a few higher end brands, but I happen to particularly like the Krell amps...

I'd also look at getting the CTC amp that Mark has and matching pre-amp...

    Source

I don't know aquat about CD Players and TTs, so I don't have a clue here...

Since y'all won't admit it, I guess I'll be the one.

    BOSE 3-2-1:D

    That's right... I went there

Nice. I was waiting for that.

In that vein, I'll bring back my favorite system: a Sony boom box playing inside an aluminum garbage can, with the treble knob all the way up, and the bass knob all the way down. That should about recreate the Bose sound.:p
