Long name for such a short cable, eh? Don't blame me, I didn't name it!

Anyhoo, up for your consideration is my AfterDark Project ClayX Black River Giesemann EVA Reference 75-ohm BNC Clock Cable, factory-built in the 0.80-meter length. AfterDark has produced numerous Project ClayX, Black River and Giesemann cable variants over the years, including different impedances and construction levels, so this listing is specifically for the Giesemann EVA Reference 75Ω BNC/BNC clock cable.

Our friend @DarqueKnight (may Ray R.I.P.) actually did an extensive write up on this exact same cable. That thread can be found here >>>

The Black River Giesemann EVA Reference is designed for the transmission of precision reference-clock signals between compatible digital components using a 75-ohm BNC clock interface. It is purpose built for Reference clocking. I bought this used and incorporated the cable to go from my Afterdark clock (Look for the sale coming up soon) to my Uptone EtherRegen, and it did so flawlessly, until I made a substantial clock upgrade where I also upgraded the clock cable as well. That's the only reason I am selling this, as it has served me well. The condition of the cable isn't what I would consider brand new. I do want to point out that there are some small (hard to see, but still there) snags on the braided outer sheath. I took a close up photo of the worst area of the cable, so you can see what I am talking about (on the last photo below). I have reduced the price because of this.

Black River / Giesemann EVA Reference Construction incorporates AfterDark's substantial mechanical and electrical construction, including:

• 75-ohm BNC-to-BNC configuration
• Silver-plated high-purity copper conductor
• Low-loss insulation
• Extensive RFI/EMI shielding
• Carbon-fiber shielding layer
• Additional metallic shielding
• Mechanically damped construction
• Premium BNC terminations
• Hand-built construction

The Black River is a substantial and relatively stiff cable by design due to its shielding and mechanical construction. The 0.80-meter length works particularly well when the clock and receiving component can be positioned reasonably close together while still allowing adequate room for the cable's bend radius. I choose a shorter length to minimize EMI and reflections, that can alter a pure square wave and cause unwanted artifacts from getting into the signal. The sound comes close to what the Audiolund Extreme silver sounded like, just a slight difference in sound and presentation.
