Well with the help of Sean (ATCVenom) and Dmantis. I narrowed my systems receivers down to 3 choices. My final system will be:

-2 RTi10's or 2 RT2000p/i's
-2 RTi6's
-1 CSi5
-Some subwoofer (next decision :D)

These are the three receivers we have decided will power them the best:

A) Sony STR-DA3000
B) H/K AVR-330
C) H/K AVR-430
D) NAD T752

Room Size:
SMALL
Approx 7' x 10'

Tastes:
I listen to a little bit of everything but most of the time rock. Sometimes alternative, sometimes classic. Never any heavy metal.

Keep in mind I will be listening to MUSIC (not movies) 99% of the time on my system.

So, which receiver do you guys think would be best suited for my system, room size, and tastes?

I asked this before but you didn't answer. You had already said you bought a Panasonic receiver on eBay. What happened to that?

All I have to say is...

    I've been around the circle...
    and I quit LOL

After explaining subwoofers to him for 30 minutes and then getting him to decide and now he dosnt know -- is aggrivating enough.

Heck, if he had the RT2000 - he wouldnt even NEED a subwoofer. - Not in a 7x10 room anyways...

    SEVEN by TEN?

Dude, get a 30-40w integrated amp, and do a sub/sat 3 pc set and call it a day.

I've read the other thread and I'm also lost here.

I agree with Russ. Forget the receiver and get an integrated amp. Since you're 99% music, you don't need a receiver. Why get a surround sound receiver when your main focus is music?

A decent integrated amp will sound better than the receivers you listed when playing music.

Haha, well at least I'm not the only one who feels that way. And I haven't even spoken to him myself.

The sony 3000 is one sexy receiver :p

Hey stop flamin' me and get to votin'. Im sorry for changing my mind so many times but I really got it this time :).

Guys what about the NAD T762? How much of a difference would it make? I can find it pretty cheap.

Why dont I do a stereo setup? Because music in surround sounds awsome, heh.

    I hope you're joking.

Anyways, if you have to use a surround sound receiver, the NAD should be your best bet. But like I mentioned earlier, even the entry level NAD integrated amp should sound better than the receiver for 2ch music playback.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to flame, I'm just trying to get to the bottom of this. You did post all of those messages so I rightfully assumed that you had purchased it. No offense, it's just that all of this has made me unsure that you're planning to do everything you tell us. But I'm sure you understand, it sounds like it's been a confusing couple of days.

Yes its been pretty confusing. Thanks for understanding, but i'm set on getting a receiver now. If you guys have any suggestions in the way of another receiver feel free to comment. Sorry again for the confusion. Id like to regain a name for myself on the Polk boards.

P.S. If you want to know I retracted the bid.

FYI, the people here definitely know what they're talking about. Their recommendations helped me reevaluate what I was looking for and I believe I will be making a much better decision when it comes purchasing time.

As far as amplifiers, NAD seems superior to H/K. I demoed stereo amplifiers the other day - the NAD definitely beat the H/K in terms of purity of sound. I don't want to imply that the H/K sounded bad, it didn't - but its nothing special. The H/K was much nicer looking and had many more features, though - which may or may not have an impact on your decision. H/K I'd group with Onkyo, Yamaha, etc. - NAD might make it into a somewhat higher-end system.

What if I stacked the RTi6's on top the 10's? :D . And can I still keep my center channel?

    Stacking --

You will have to wire them funny or get an external amp...

Also you will need to angle the top speaker downwards -- and put rubber bands under it so it dosn't decide to walk off on you.

Also You might want to unplug one tweeter for the sake of trying it if you do do that.

Now I gotta go back to the weed eater...

    good luck

If you were to stack them...
Using them wired to the surrounds would sound like dog mess...

You would need to wire them in series or paralell

You're on your way to spending mid fi dollars on a very low-fi system. No I'm not flamming, I'm just stating the obvious. Speaker stacking IS ENTIRELY not something to do.

Why don't you consider a small intergrated amp, with only two speakers and a very good source?

    System A

    NAD541i CD player
    NAD 320BEE Intergarted Amp
    Polk Audio LSi 9 speakers
    Sonus Speaker stands.

    System B (used/new)

    Rotel CD 1072 (new)
SimAudio i-3 Intergrated Amp (used at Audiogon.com)
Polk Audio LSi 9 Speakers or Paradigm Studio 40's
    Sonus or Dreadnaught speaker stands.

Both systems would crush the system you have put together for music. System A would cost only half or your orginal system and system B would come in at probably the same. System B would actually put you in the lower end of true high end sound.

at any rate, take my advice for whatever you think its worth. You really are headed down a bad path. Just the thought of speaker stacking makes my head spin. The first sign of true low-fi concepts. You really will enjoy music more with system B. You'll finding yourself listening to albums and music well after the rush of the purchase is over. Overtime the music will outshine the "system" and afterall that is usually why we are in this hobby. To make our hobby of music shine.

    Lush -

You havn't tried stacking, so where does your opinion exactly come from? And if you have tried stacking - did you tweak it?

Alot of things can be done in stacking for better or worse -- and I have had great results.

I have tried it with several speakers and have had nothing but great results.

As for the LSi system - trust me dude, Sean and me have been around this in circles with this kid for about a week now...lol
