Adding remote control capability to my 2 channel rig

So, the only remote control device I have in my set up is my Marantz cd player. There have been times that I wished I could control at least the volume without getting up to adjust the preamp. Is something like the Chase Remote Line Controller RLC-1 the best solution?

Apparently, it has an automatic loudness compensation that increases as the volume deceases. This seems to create a bass heavy sound signature.
Depending on a number of factors it may be possible to install a remote controlled motorized volume potentiometer. I did it with a vintage integrated amp.Political Correctness'.........defined

Maybe its time for a preamp replacement/upgrade? There are tube based preamps with phono sections and remote capabilities out there. I mean, I know you were thinking about it a year or two back:

I'm probably not the one to suggest what brand/models to look for since I've sworn off tubes.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
I have vintage and newer stuff as you know.
Come to think of it, my NAD receiver and my Onkyo receiver both have a remote that allows you to change the bass, treble, and some other things. I never change anything except stations bass, treble and CDs and select songs from my couch.
These aren't cheap receivers either.
I love my classic JVC when I'm walking around and can go up to it to change the volume and stations and the CD options in the player above it. But sitting. ..these remotes with tone controls are pretty cool.
I like these remotes so much I've almost given up on buying any newer amp or pre that doesn't have a remote like these have. Even my old Pioneer Elite receivers have remotes that change bass and treble from the couch.
Yea, I know...tone controls are ... and only for us beginners. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
I had a remote installed on my 1979 phase linear preamp. I was really getting to hate having to get up to adjust my volume.
Best mod ever! -

A remote controlled motorized volume potentiometer would be the ideal remedy for me. I don't like to add anything add'l in the signal path but that kind of work is above my pay grade. The only shop nearby is so busy I would prolly be w/o the amp for at least 6 weeks.
I guess I could live with the loudness factor at low volumes as long as it doesn't muddy the bass.
Having a remote is great, I even had one for my Alpine rig in a 97 Cavalier. Was nice to be able to control volume, etc w/o taking eyes off the road.

Good info, Jesse. Did you happen to see any of this mod talk about eliminating the Loudness Compensation?
I don't know anything about this, or what it does, but a few other members on AK posted that they completed this mod with success and pleasing result.
