Cary SLP-05 LED problem.. ☹️

Looks like my LED’s are going out on my power supply..

The big bummer is, my 3yr warranty ended on Dec 1st ☹️

It wasn’t doing this yesterday, it started right when I powered it up today. Obviously it doesn’t affect performance, just annoying..

I sent Cary an email today, to see what can be done, I’m actually not fond of the blue lights, but don’t like having them not working either. 😁

I’m kinda hoping they will just send me new LED’s or new meters, I would rather not mail this back for that..

Looks like the led should be easy to replace

Yeah, I opened it up earlier, it's been a while since I have been in there, doesn't look like it would be difficult. i didn't go any further than what you just posted, figured I would wait and see what Cary says first.

FWIW blue LEDs IME fail more often than red or green.
They were also the hardest color to create.

Looks like the led bulb is just a regular ought and the tube it connects to is blue

When I had my SLP-05 I had the same issue. I talked with a Cary tech who sent me instructions and a couple of LEDs for no charge.

    I couldn't tell for sure.

Nothing bugs me quicker than an LED taking its strobe death march.

That is what I hope they do.

I think it’s a common problem. I believe the color blue is given off by the color of the vu meters “skin”. Don’t think changing to a green led will have the intended effect.

I would rather it just be white/clear, and the means to dim it to ones comfort, or turn the light off completely..

Not yet, Steve from Cary reached out to me, sent me the prints on the changes they made and how they are hooked up, and asked if I felt comfortable in tackling this myself.

I told him absolutely, it looks pretty straight forward. but I have yet to hear back from him.

I sent him another email today, hopefully I hear something tomorrow..

I am assuming he is getting all the parts together, and mail them to me..

Finally had the time today, and tackle this, pretty straight forward, had to eliminate one wire, relocate another, take a diode out, add a cap and resistor, and of course replace the light boxes.
    Took a couple hours.
When you turn it on now, the lights come on slowly..
