Hello,
Welcome to the Polk forum. Are you meaning the rechargeable batteries won't take a charge? -
Thanks. Yes, when I plug in the charger, the red light is lit, but the speaker die almost immediately
when I pull the charger cable. So I believe the battery is dead, this unit has been forgotten in my
garage for years. I pulled the plugs in the bottom and removed the 4 screws under them, but the
unit won't open up. It was on sale several years ago and I just bought it because it was a Polk.
We moved and I have hard time to figure out where to put my SDA-1 speakers and then remembered this an dug it out. -
I understand. Let me ask if there's an easy way to get inside.

His response:
"You have to remove the rubber feet, and the black screw covers from the bottom to gain access."

Thanks, lot of screws 8pcs. And the bottom don't come off, it's the top with that come off. There is a
battery pack inside, model: AE18650CM1-22-2P2S it's 7,4VDC 32,56Wh 4400mA.
It's used in other mobile speakers, so you can find with the model number from the web.
Look very well made, in my unit the cover gasket was not installed properly, but everything else are
well done. -
Nice, good info.
Did the top just lift off, or did you still need to use any plastic "prying" tool to release it?
I have some "spudgers", I think they're called, mostly for laptop maintenance, but handy for audio stuff, too. Firm and medium guitar picks are also valuable maintenance tools.
Great for separating remote covers for deep cleaning.I disabled signatures. -
The top just lifted off, there is a groove where a square gasket sit, it was glued in the corners,
but not to the top part. I have not yet received the new battery pack, but the connector looked
just like in the Polk battery, even the wire colors was same.
There are 4 small speakers with quite big magnets. -
