why is movie music on rear speakers but conversations only on soundbar/tv?

while streaming movies the music plays great on the rear speakers but when the movie changes to conversations it moves to front (soundbar/tv). you almost have to have the sound all the way up to hear conversations. now when you stream live tv its fine. we have the system set using ARC.

Conversations come from the front 99% of the time. The sound from rear speakers is generally ambient.

Sounds like you need to make some adjustments.

    ARC with a soundbar?

    What equipment do you have?
  • It’s a DBRX1 soundbar, DSW2 subwoofer, DSR3 rear speakers. Our Samsung tv is connected to soundbar via hdmi arc
  • We had to replace the original Polk remote bc the dog ate it and we had Polk send us a new one. It doesn’t have the same adjustment options. The last tv we could adjust the conversation part of the movies more to the rear. Maybe I need to get back with Polk

I think it may come down to your cable/internet provider and what signal they send out for commercials, movies, TV shows etc. I had a similar issue when setting up a soundbar for my mom, that being said, check your TV settings and see if you have an output option for home theater, separate speakers, etc...I generally select "Home Theater" on my TV's if I'm using ARC.

Have you verified the correct ARC HDMI port on the TV, if more than one?

    Just throwing out ideas.
