I'm looking for somebody to test some tubes

I don't have a tester or even know how to operate one (but would be willing to learn). After striking out at a few local shops I've looked for a used tester but decided against that since I would not know if the unit functions properly.
So, would there be anyone interested in testing some tubes for me? Probably have 16 or so and am looking to try identify and match pairs as close as possible.

I get it and somewhat agree with you doing so and pitdogg2 is willing to do it for you which is pretty cool. BUT my question to you is, what tubes do you have?? Where did you get them from? Have you tried Local Music amp repair shops? They all have tube testers as most guitar amps are tube amps. We have several around the PA Philadelphia and NJ areas.
And finally what does it cost to ship both ways vs buying new matched tubes for whatever you're changing tubes in?Dan

Pennies on the dollar? Jeez, have you seen the price of tubes as of late?
Reliably sourced NOS tubes are a gold mine nowadays.

Unfortunately there are no shops in this area that I know of that can test for me...and have have tried several that I thought could help. One Mom&Pop TV shop said I should have called sooner as they just gave away 2 testers....dang!
The tubes are mostly 12AX7 and 6DJ8 types. pitdogg2...PM forthcoming.Yep, my name really is Bob.

With Ivan, you will have someone very knowledgeable about the tester and its results as well as the construction and characteristics of the tubes he’s testing. On top of that, no worries about his handling of any valuable tubes or potential return shipping/packaging issues.

No I haven't and is why I asked. It's been a few years since I purchased tubes. I got 4 Sovtech 6L6 tubes all matched for $74.99. I have no idea what they cost now but I'll have to start looking as one of my Guitar amps is ready for some fresh tubes.
I don't know what NOS tubes are.Dan

What you are buying Dan is NOT considered NOS as they are still in production.

Roll them. That's the best way to test them. A tester doesn't tell you if they sound good but if you want output matches, by all means.Gustard X26 Pro DAC

Tube matching is overrated, unless it's done in circuit at many different test points, even then there is no guarantee they will stay matched after some use. -
Matching is a starting point, testing may tell me which tubes to keep and which to trash?Yep, my name really is Bob.

I sure would not want to "roll" in a tube with a short. I also would like to know that a paticular tube is nearing end of life. Also no sense in running tubes that are a tick or two above the minimum good value either. -

Yes a tube with a short is a no go, but end of life tests on a tester are very subjective. A tube tester with end of life tests could just be a tube pin not making an adequate connection.
