Soundbar and Subwoofer are not mating

Polk Magnifi mini soundbar, stopped mating with the subwoofer. Let me explain in advance:

I took it to the service center and was told that the firmware was broken.

I updated the firmware via Google Home.

The firmware installed and now I have a brick instead of a soundbar.

Is there any way to reset it to factory settings to return it to its original state?

Who has encountered help please very much loved it but with the update that killed the system is very frustrating.

  • Hello,
Welcome to the Polk forum. I'll ask a friend who works at Polk. Where do you live?
  • His recommendation:

    Try this:

How to reset a Polk Magni-Fi Mini soundbar to factory settings, you can do the following:

    1. Press and hold the Reset button on the back of the soundbar for at least 15 seconds
    2. Release the button after hearing the second lower tone

Resetting the soundbar will erase all settings, including Wi-Fi connection details, programmed remote codes, and all settings of the bar.

Did you open a bottle of wine and pour them both a glass? Play some romantic jazz and light a candle? Just spitballing here...

I held down the Reset button and the sound was there, but the subwoofer still flashes green and does not connect to the soundbar.

It sounds like you're having a bit of trouble getting your soundbar and subwoofer to sync up, right? That can be frustrating, especially when you're all set for that cinematic sound. First off, the most common reason they don't pair is usually something simple like the connection timing. Many soundbars and subwoofers connect wirelessly, and sometimes they need a little extra help to recognize each other.

Here’s a good starting point: try powering both the soundbar and the subwoofer off completely for about 10 seconds. Once you power them back on, they should try to sync again automatically. If that doesn’t do the trick, some soundbars have a manual pairing button on both the soundbar and subwoofer. You can press those to force them into pairing mode. Make sure they're relatively close to each other, at least for the initial connection attempt, and there aren’t any major obstructions like walls in the way.

If you're using a specific brand like Samsung or LG, they might have their own quirks when it comes to pairing, so checking the manual or looking up how your model syncs might be useful too. And hey, worst case scenario, a quick reset often clears up those bugs. Hope that gets you back to booming sound!

    Nothing worked, I tried everything.

  • I had the same problem, I updated the firmware via Google Home like you and the update gone wrong and the soundbar stoped working, no sound from it. The solution? 1 month waiting for a response, the solution I got, they sent me a replacement. Aaaaaaaaand that replacement doesn't works when i plug the HDMI. I mean i love this soundbar but it has soooo many issues and Polk is silent on the matter.

Hope you get a solution soon.

    Hello,
I'm sorry you're having a problem. I'll ask a friend at Polk about this.
A little clarification, when you say the replacement doesn't work when you plug in the HDMI, can you explain what happens? The bar shuts down? Or, there's no sound?

He has asked to confirm that you are referring to a MagniFi Mini soundbar, correct? Also, where are you located? Thanks.

Just the soundbar and subwoofer do not connect under any circumstances, the green light on the sub flashes and that's it. The soundbar and subwoofer do not connect under any circumstances. I am from the Republic of Belarus. And there are no official dealers here. Although the products are amazing.

Maybe we should just give up and throw it in the bin.
